How to Save 66,795 Every Year On Your Own:rotflmao:

Most Pinoys started their financial lives saving money using either a piggy bank bought from a mall or a home-made "alkansiya" made from biscuit cans trying to save money each day with some leftover coins duing their younger days.

Just found out recently how one can get to save 66,795 each year and doesn't matter what currency you have. Remember that this would require tremendous financial discipline on your side for the entire year.

Start with January 1 with P1, then January 2 with P2, and so on. By June 1, the 152nd day, you would have saved 11,628 and by October, it's 37,675. If you have the discipline, by the end of the year you could have saved 66,795. And that is just saving daily starting with 1 up to 365.

You can also make some adjustments on the frequency of saving at your own pace, .i.e. you can opt for weekly or monthly.

Now, at first it's small but as the days go by, you might want to continue by puting it on a bank instead for better security, but still continue with the process although you might want to deposit by the week instead of daily as long as you stay within your target range.

Once deposited in a bank, your deposit is now earning interest which helps you with a small amount on your quest.

You might also want to share some of your thoughts on saving on your own.

BTW, here's a table I've made to help you monitor your 365-day savings and understand better so you won't lose track of how much you should have saved on the current date. To see it better, copy url then paste on address bar. Happy saving.

  • im keeping one for my son since 2007...lahat ng spare namin P5 and P10 coins, dun namin nilalagay ng hubby ko....thrice or 4x na rin namin ata sya napuno...around P3500 din ang total pag napupuno sya...we then deposit them to my son's kiddie bank account... :)
  • yes I do. I invest in Mutual funds. :)

Alkansya is very old-fashioned, pero up until right now, may magic pa rin talaga ang alkansya, kasi in anyways, laging nagkakalaman. Di natin namamalayan na everytime we drop coins in our alkansya, aabot din pala ng libo-libong piso. This may not earn you an interest, but still, alkansya is an effective tool for us to earn. Yes, I do have my piggy bank in my room, full of coins - hey, thanks to the thrend starter, pina remind mo ako bilangin ang aking coins sa alkansya (hehe)....
Kelan nyo balak buksan yung alkansya nyo?
  • alkansiya is for loose coins right? this loose coins combined together makes up a big bucks po. this start-up mindset is good. ii is much better if you follow it up next by forced savings. As they say "savings is an expense that buys your future". hope helps

  • Binibili ng SM ang mga coins ngayon. Wala na daw kasi silang panukli. Just surrender to them your sack of coins and they will exchange it for paper denomination, plus a premium percentage payout. Magtanong kayo sa customer service. :D

I find myself running out of coins more often now than many years ago. That's why I haven't been putting money in my alkansya for quite a while.

My children still have theirs, but they also have savings accounts and have learned to deposit bills instead of coins.

Actually we have a very high coin to person ratio of 150:1. Our neighboring ASEAN countries have about 75:1. That's why the BSP governor is encouraging us to use our coins kasi it's expensive to mint them, while we keep them in alkansiyas and our car dashboards.

I wonder what percentage of those coins are 1-centavo, 5-centavos, and 10-centavos. Those denominations are practically useless and should really be discontinued.

Hehehe...

I still believe in "old style of savings "
dont talk to me about those "financial ek-ek"
I've been burnt a lot of times.
thus, I dont trust my future to others. I trust
    my future to myself! *okay*
  • you got it right po kaibigang banker that we should take charge our own future.

in y own opinion the definitive term na alkansiya ay "it is a consolidation of loose change conveniently place for accessibility". my 3 cents

  • nussnuss PEx Veteran ⭐⭐
KuyaDanny, I believe those 1, 5, and 10 centavo coins are still in circulation because corporations need them (daw) for "down to the last centavo" transactions.

I will consider that trip to the SM customer service if those coins are worth than they actually are (which they actually are kung tunawin mo siya at ibenta mo ng por kilo).

  • naku, im enticed to keep one again. before meron ako hello kitty pa...nakak save talaga ako nun heheh
