"The Battle Hymn of the Republic" is a hymn by American writer Julia Ward Howe using the music from the song "John Brown's Body". Howe's more famous lyrics were written in November 1861 and first published in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. The song links the judgment of the wicked at the end of time (New Testament) with the American Civil War. Since that time it has become an extremely popular and well-known American patriotic song.

Nagpatawa ka naman, Alaskador. It was a country of Indians (native Americans) when Europeans came. While the ordinary citizens were Christians, the American Fathers were mostly deists, some atheists, and some Baptists and Methodists. Your religion -- Catholicism -- barely mattered then.

Only the immigration from poor countries of Europe -- Poland and Italy -- and from Catholic Philippines and Latin America -- did the US slowly increase its Catholic population. But even now, the culture is more Evangelical rather than Catholic. Okay?

The next move for the US is not the become Catholic. Sorry. It still become more secular, then, atheist. It is slow, but it is clearly following the trends of Europe. So, stop dreaming Alaskador.

Oh, btw, check the statistics. Islam is also the fastest growing religion in America. Yes, the pesky Muslims reached there. But don't worry, the US will become secular atheist rather than Muslim. I think you prefer the earlier than the latter.
