  • What needs to be banned are those who use HIDs on non-HID approved/capable headlamps. Just because the HID bulb fits, doesn't mean you can use it.
  • Its not how bright the headlihgts are. Its how the owner focuses them. Making a law against this is useless as most of other traffic rules and regulations.
  • yep. worry not. as more and more vehicles come out of the factory with HIDs already on, mababawasan ang mga badly installed hid vehicles on the road.

Blue LED bulbs in lieu of signal, park lights, and even headlights should be banned.
  • Reason why some people install high intensity HID?
Very dark tint, hence needs a lot brighter headlights.

    Brilliant.

  • I'm not familiar with the term, pero yan ba yung headlights na pagkaliwa-liwanag, na parang ang kulay eh medyo whitish blue?

I dont agree. lets face it, not all the vehicles on the road are fresh from the showroom. A lot of people cant afford to change their vehicle every three years or less. So we end up with still older cars, and retrofitting HIDs will not stop.

If you ask me, it all boils down to how, we, Filipinos respect each other. You can already see how each and every citizen treat each other by just observing how a person drives his vehicle. Sad to say it doesnt look that good.

Tip lang, if you encounter oncoming vehicles with glaring headlights, dont fight with it (headlight war), just keep your headlights on low and try to approximate the road right beside his headlight, slow down. Let it go. Better yet, kung maganda naman ang visibility (with street lighting) turn your lights off (but i dont recommend this to everybody).

I agree and I like your philosophy on this. This is what I already do. There is no use getting cross about these things and putting your lights to high or doing something rash will not lead to anything positive. I just ignore those bright lights when I see them on the road.

As long as the retrofit is done correctly, there is no problem. The problem is some people (both idiotic penny-pinching buyers and equally unscrupulous sellers) use only the bulb, totally disregarding that the bulb also needs the proper housing and lens. Ang nakakainis pa when you point out their stupidity and lack of safety concern sasabihan ka pa ng walang basagan ng trip at sinisiraan ang negosyo.

Merun nagkakabit ng HID sa ilalim ng bumper, which makes more sense kasi naiilawan yung kalye, this I agree fully. I do not blame people on installing HID na maliwanag, for their own safety.

Simply put focus it correctly, its that simple!
  • isama na rin sana yung mga motorcycles/cars that change their tail lights to clear and remove the red lens. nakaka confuse minsan when they hit the brakes at night, di mo alam kung may kasalubong ka on the wrong side of the road :grrr:

A study was done before and it showed that motorcycle / scooter owners are more prone to modifying their vehicles as compared to car / SUV owners especially when it comes to the lights.

Agree.

HID capable headlamps are "ambidextrous", neither LHD nor RHD-specific. you can adjust them to be biased to left or the right. But even when unadjusted for LHD/RHD its not as bad as the old halogen-type headlamps w/c are RHD or LHD specific. But HIDs need a specific headlamp housing (yung parang ET-eyeball). Hindi pwede basta maglagay ng HID bulb in an old halogen headlamp (those whose housing has "lines" to spread out the light).

This is correct. For HID lamps to be effective, you need to use it in a projector type housing. Otherwise, the light will just scatter making it ineffective and blind oncoming traffic. Sadly, most people who buy HID lamps are not informed of this or are too cheap to buy the correct housing. Te correct housing for HID lamps can be quite expensive. I know a guy who spent over 30,000 for the proper HID housing on his vehicle.

tail lights other than RED should be banned. A while ago, naka kita ako ng truck na may GREEN na brake lights. Diba GO yun green?

BLUE should be only used by police or emergency vehicles.

I have no problems with properly aligned and quality aftermarket HIDs.
  • Meanie!!
    Meanie!! because pex
    ^ My sentiments too.

That said, I sometimes get annoyed by very bright aftermarket installed HIDs on relatively high elevated cars(suvs, etc). Nakaka-silaw naman talaga minsan eh. It might actually cause some driver's to be blinded for a second or two.
  • I get annoyed with those, sobrang nakaksilaw, meron din mga motor, pinapalitan ang breaklight ng HID, ano ba yan.
