Off-Topic.. may promo ang SM advantage card to get 6K Mabuhay miles. Inextend nila yung promo from September 30 to Oct 31.

    Some of the terms:
    (1) Install/enroll SM Advantage app
    (2) Spend 1500 in participating SM Department store. For each 1500, you get one coupon.
    (3) Collect 6 coupons within the promo period, you will be eligible for 6K Mabuhay miles.

9K pesos for 6K miles is a really good deal, especially kung may bibilihin naman kayo talaga. Ang ginawa ko, iniwan ko sa mother yung card ko where her friends used it during the SM 3-day sale.  They got 10% additional discount, I got the coupon/s. :)

Hello PEX travel masters on this thread. What is your most preferred airline loyalty program and how was the experience? Due to massive devaluation of Delta Skymiles (as posted by ThePointsGuy) starting April 2019, I'm planning to discontinue my Delta Skymiles and change my travel plans. My preferred destinations are in SE Asia lang since I'm a newbie pa.
Ano ba ang habol mo, free flights? If yes, parang ok na siguro if you stick with either CebuPac or PAL, since SEA lang naman yung destinations mo.

In my case kasi, ang habol ko is status and luckily, I first flew with Asiana, and never changed airlines ever since.  Easiest airline to earn (and maintain) status, and I always goes to the US every year for a conference.  I sometimes also visit my dad and sister in Dubai so I can do just 3-4 long haul flights to maintain status.
    Anong card po gamit nyo?
As of now, my main card is BDO Amex Green. My backup cards are Citi Rewards and BPI Delta.
Maganda pala points to mile ratio ng Amex? Shopmore lang kasi card ko kay BDO.. Premier miles ako nag iipon ng miles
Medyo mas maganda sa Premiermiles pero yeah relative to most ay decent ang miles niya.

    Opinion:

Metrobank sends Electronic Flyers, SMS, for this card type (e.g. World Mastercard, Travel, etc)

I assume this is one way to attract existing clients to avail this card type, tempting you with the promos exclusive for these card types.

Just because we receive promotions for this card type, doesn't mean you're getting a new card, it's what they want, for you to avail that card.

Agree, they are trying to offer their other card.
Also applies for other card issuers, not just Metrobank :)
@ehleesyan may email akong natanggap to upgrade my classic visa to gold. Anu pros at cons maliban sa AF.
Mas mukhang prestigious ang Gold. 😆
Haha. Oo nga, at isa pa, tuklap tuklap na classic ko. Kakakuskus ng mga ateng kahera.
Akech din, may email offer. Kagatin ko sa weekend at ttry ko hiritan na gawing travel plat para cool in preparation sa free travel ko next year
Haha. Soul, ang pag upgrade ba nila by tier? Example, classic muna, to gold to plat? What if yung CL is lagpas na sa gold tier?

tip lang din po doon sa mga magsstart palang magpool ng miles: at least sa MCC ang partner frequent flier memberships are mabuhay miles, kris flyer, and asia miles. know which among these EXPIRE and which dont.

kasi kunyari goal mo roundtrip business class MNL to USA west coast via singapore air - so kailangan at least 190,000 miles ka for the business saver level and can go as high as 250k if you’ll opt for business flexi/advantage awards..eh kaso, ang kris flyer miles nag eexpire 3 years after you earned the specific mileage points for a specific date/time - dapat sure kang maattain mo yung goal or at least 50% of the required miles for your target redemption (FYI pwede po bumili ng miles via topup by sending member request form and paying corresponding fees, provided that you reach at least 50% of the intended award ..sure ako sa PAL and sa Singapore Air, sa asia miles next year ko pa ieexplore haha). MAIN POINT: sayang ang miles na inipon if inabot ka ng expiry..BEAR THIS IN MIND ;)

Or if ayaw mo ng mejo may pressure kasi nag-eexpire, go for mabuhay miles nalang - NON EXPIRING NA SILA NGAYON (may condition and covered dito yung miles earned from credit cards).

I know some of you already gave their thoughts on which FFP to choose, pero we might as well consolidate it here.
Also, tips and tricks din para ma-fully utilise ang credit card points conversion to this. And which card/bank would be best for what FFP. Siguro naman walang one-size-fits-all card for all FFP, no?
Ang alam ko lang na FFP dito sa PH ay:
    1. GetGo
    2. Mabuhay Miles
    3. Asia Miles
    4. AirAsia Big
    5. Delta Miles
    6. KrisFyler
Planning to convert all my points kasi sana in one FFP para ma-try ko naman mag-travel
I'm eyeing Asia Miles kasi nung tinignan ko, parang mas malawak ang covered flights or partner airlines nila eh. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Asia Miles the best when partnered with BDO American Express Cathay Pacific! Unrivaled.
  • gibsonfangibsonfan Member PEx Guru 🎖️🎖️
    Mahaba habang usapan ito. Haha

Pero yun nga, depende talaga where you want to use it. Within Asia, marami ka namang pwede gamitin.

In general, mas sulit points wise ang business class redemptions pag tinitingnan mo ang miles needed vs cost of booking. For example, a business class miles ticket may cost only 2x as much as economy pero if you buy them with cash siguro mga 3-4x ang layo.

Keep in mind mga miles na may expiry - Krisflyer is one.

Mabuhay Miles ay weirdly mahal from a cc point perspective. Ewan ko kung bakit - di namqn sobrang ganda rin ng redemption rate nila at kulang kulang ang destination if you want to go out of Asia. Diners ang pinakasulit sa Mabuhay though if you want to be loyal.

I'm not a big spender at kalat pa sa iba't ibang cards ang transactions ko so I can stretch my due dates. I use Unionbank Getgo for Getgo points then yung others cards ay sa Mabuhay Miles na. Fly the flag carrier! plus PAL is likely to join an airline alliance soon for those wanting to visit more places, but personally their current destinations are more than enough for me. I usually just earn the minimum rewards points for redemption per card before shifting into another card to earn points (I use Diners primarily due to better MM earn rate), better if meron din multiplier promos to get more points like sa accelerated rewards ng HSBC at Diners. I also wait for bonus miles promos kapag nagpa convert ng credit card points into miles. I'll also only redeem if meron promo like 50% off miles promo ng Mabuhay Miles before, last option na yung regular rate miles redemption.

Ang mahirap for me in choosing Changi ay medyo mahal minsan redemptions ni Singapore Air for me vs other airlines.

Medyo pangit talaga choices natin since konti lang flight options from the Philippines.
