Aortic Aneurysm

My aunt was diagnosed just last week. The doctor said, she has aortic aneurysm. Can anyone explain to me what aneurysm is? Is this dangerous? How can we treat this illness? Please do respond.

    An aneurysm is a dangerous condition of the blood vessel in which it thins out and balloons its wall, making it prone to rupture. If rupture occurs, then there will be no flow of blood to the supposedly supplied area. Treatment depends on the size. If it is large, then treatment is needed. If not, then only monitoring of the aneurysm can be done.
