Should Marijuana be Legalized?

Why not legalize marijuana when it is definitely much safer than alcohol and cigarettes? Is it even addictive?

Bawal ba humitit ng omads ayon sa biblia?

    why? is it hard?

that's exactly what the Lord has taught us.

to live according to the life we received from being saved, and not according to laws and traditions.

I favor regulation over prohibition, unless we're talking about child pornography.
  • I think it should be legalized but strictly regulated. Bawal sa public, bawal sa school/work, bawal habang nagdadrive, etc etc.

Alcohol is probably a lot more harmful than cannabis, so if they impose similar regulations on cannabis as alcohol, I don't know how that can be construed as being not strict enough.

But who's to say that legalizing cannabis would make things worse? By that I mean the quality of what you're getting. I have this sneaking suspicion that tobacco itself may not be as bad as the chemicals that big industry uses for mass producing cigarettes. Indian shamans consume huge quantities of tobacco for their rituals and they seem to live for a long long time - no issues with lung cancer.

So if cannabis becomes "legalized" and "regulated", big business will find it profitable to manufacture cannabis cigarettes and likely ruin the currently "organic" way it is farmed. :)
  • are you talking about just marijuana or the cannabis plant species itself?

anyway, my answer is: ***** YEAH!

cannabis/hemp is a very very VERY profitable cash crop. i'm not talking only about marijuana. hemp has a LOT of uses related to food, clothing, pharma, and even shelter (read about "hempcrete").

here's a thought for all of you: while the Philippine government has spent BILLIONS of pesos prohibiting the cultivation of the plant, other countries like Canada and Amsterdam on the other hand, are earning BILLIONS by taking advantage of the plant's potential.

Marijuana is not legal in Canada yet. But there are ongoing debates and I have a feeling that it will be legal soon.

    Questions are:
    1. Is it addictive?
    2. Is it much less harmful than tobacco and alcohol?
    3. Is it a gateway drug? - meaning that the use of it will lead to the use of stronger drugs like cocaine.
    4. Will it make a person prone to aggression?

Anyways, my stand here is we need more proof muna na marijuana is safe before malegalized yan.

that's what they say, but what I am saying is peace with God, not just having a stoned, sedated and pleasant feeling
