Unusual sound from my vios (unusual for me)

I recently bought a 2012 Toyota Vios 1.5G Sports Edition Limited (June 29, 2012). My car is just 2 months old and everytime I'm driving I can't help but get bothered with this "unusual" sound i hear when i step on the brake and release it. Sort of a "grating" sound..parang kasing tunog ng door na gumagasgas sa floor. Because I was worrying the the brake system might fail (and cause me an accident) I decided to contact Toyota and they've advised me to bring the car to their service center. Well surprisingly, when one of their staff was inside my car and we were driving around, hindi naman na tumutunog yung brake. Hahah... Meron pero mahina unlike what I use to experience...So this guy from Toyota asked me to describe the sound, how often I'm experiencing it etc. He then told me that it's unusual for brand new cars to have problems especially on the brakes; the sounds I may be hearing may just be "normal" whats abnormal daw are squeezing and squeaking sounds. Well i dont really know how they sound...hahah..Also, according to this guy from Toyota sometimes there are "sounds" daw especially if the "ABS" get wet from continuous raining. So in short, my visit to Toyota and my worry of the "unusual" sound are all okay...

Well now I still hear that sound though but it's less of a worry for me considering what I was told. I'm trying to play with my brakes sometimes just to compare and understand when exactly that sound is heard. Maybe im just stepping too hard on the brake??

parang matinis na tunog bA? usually at low speed lang natunog? normal yan,
nung nag palit ako ng break pads tinanong ko din yan sa mechanic normal daw yun sa auto ko kasi metallic pads ang gamit may madidinig daw talaga akong matinis na tunog lalo sa break in period nito.
BTW may suggest sa akin yung mechanic ko nun na Break Cleaner na i spray daw para ma lose yung annoying sound na yun pero hindi ko na ginamit normal naman daw kasi yun sabi din ng dad ko.

If you step too hard on the brake, your car will stop. I don't think you have ABS so your tyres won't skid. The dealer should have a device that can record sound. This device has clamps so you can attach it to different parts of the car to spot a sound. Ask your dealer about this. I used this device before when I was looking for a sound that I kept on hearing inthe undercarriage of my car before.

If the sound you hear sounds like metal scraping against metal, I think your calipers and rotors need to be checked.

Thanks! Actually one time I asked my dad to drive the car and make any observation. Well good thing, wala naman syang napansin na kahit ano. Hahah. Well maybe I'm just too conscious as I haven't heard that sound in any new car na nasakyan ko like my officemate's care a new Altis. Well hindi naman sya matinis...hirap lang talaga siya idescribe...Well I'll just trust what they've advised me sa Toyota...so long as it doesnt go wrong...

What I meant was when I step too hard on the brake and slowly release it that's when I hear the sound and sometimes even at half brake, there is... I'm not really familiar with the ABS all I know is its for prevention of skids... Right now I'm just relying on the thought that its "new" and it should not fail at least...Thanks for your thoughts!

Now that you describe it that way, then I think that's the normal sound you hear from brakes. Don't worry about it.

Just have them clean and check the brakes as well during the next PMS. Nothing to lose. I've experienced the ABS grinding sound however that usually comes out when your tires lose traction during a sudden or hard stop.

Another thing you would notice if you have ABS is that the brake pedal pulsates when you press down on it hard for sudden stops.
