Anyone who has an idea?

Presently, I'm working in the field of accounting-administrative and when I got home, I'm planning to invest my savings in our family business, but still need to work, masyadong boring kung dependent lang ako sa income ng business.

Meron pa bang puedeng maaplayan sa pilipinas at this time aside from call center?????
  • aww.. this sucks, I checked the thread, wala pa palang nakakasagot. I was hoping na I can find a work for my dad, so he won't get bored at home (since my mom passed away.) ohwell..

    KAYA NGA!

Teka, ano ba experience mo muna?

It really depends on your experience.

You can try your luck sa BPO, pwede ka siguro sa Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable staff. Hindi lahat ng BPO call center.

And kahit saan naman pwede ka mag-apply as long as qualified ka.

Look around sa jobstreet and jobsdb para magka-idea.

Yeah you're right! this is the most familiar ads on jobstreet and jobsdb since I had my account on both site, aside from that only call centers or BPO can accommodate age 40's and above:lol:

When it comes to my experience, I have a quite impressive work experienced considering more than 20 years in service with different multinational and a govt institution that I've worked for.

I sensed that the problem is the age, that private company's preferred the young ones' and they considered me as over qualified, that's what I'm told.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    haist!

You can always work for Business Process Outsource (BPOs) Companies. Call centers are part of BPOs but there are so many other services outsourced these days like accounting, finance, architecture, medical transcription etc.. For example, if you are an accountant and you decide to work for a BPO that provides outsources accounting services, you will then be doing the outsourced accounting work.

Or why not open your own business?

Also TS, given your experience, you can also try your luck with ADB (or other international organizations in the Philippines) as they do not discriminate. It's just very very competitive to get in though.

Yes I'm aware of those you've mentioned regarding BPO's services other than a representative or agent. I'm just trying to look other options, if any, outside the BPO industry. Coz' if you are going to apply in a BPO, you will still undergo hiring process joining the agents or representative applicants, still requires above average English proficiency. I'm not saying that I'm not qualified, but still looking other companies that will be evaluated based on expertise.

For instance, my target companies that I would be applying for are JPMchase, HSBC, BoA. These are BPO in-house financial companies. In the first place, what if I didn't pass the qualifying part in their English proficiency standard? So that's it, my expertise was based only on a certain criteria.

Anyway, thanks for all the advises, I just created this thread that might somebody had the experience to share and have some good choice.

    Thanks
  • Ang advise ko for you, use Linkedin social network. You won't get job offer at your current age. Try to contact your former classmate and officemate in Phils. if there's an opening they know. Most job offer for middle age career won't be found on those online job sites like jobstreet or jobsdb. Only BPO industry right now are you only channel to get a job offer. Reason they don't discriminate based on age, races, gender and social status.

Majority kasi ng company sa Pinas discriminate against age even if you qualify for the position. Beside uso pa din ang padrino system when looking for work. "Its not what you know but rather whom you know" ang ways for finding a new job.

you missed "Must have pleasing personality". Ads written by shallow or manyak na boss

Sa engineering eh mas preferred nila yung me experience eh. Di mo din alam kung anu plano nila in 2 or more years. :bop:

  • Then why not apply at JPMchase, HSBC, and BoA. Don't apply for a call center position if don't want English proficiency as the only basis.

I know IBM and Accenture are doing bookkeeping for foreign businesses.

Any update dito, baka me pag-asa pang maka hanap ng work ang katulad kong late 40's na? Ayaw ko kasi sa call center.

Sa mga may IT experience I can refer you sa Accenture. Let's try to get you in. They claim that the company does not discriminate.

Hindi kasi masyadong in demand yang skill set niyo(correct me if I am wrong). Mas maganda sir try to get devops skills such as setting up deployments.
