Nasira yun timing belt ng Hiace namin... I have some questions.

I want to ask kung ganyan ba talaga ito kamahal? I think we're going to pull back the car and let others na lang fix it... kahit bumawas man lang ng kalahati yun cost of repairs... I've been looking sa net and okay daw magparepair sa Cruven... Do they do repairs like this?

Pag naputol t-belt, maraming ibang parts madadamay usually (parang pag na-hydrolock yung engine). Same thing happened sa 4d56 Pajero namin more than 20 years ago (funny, to think up to now, updated na 4d56 pa rin ang gamit ng Mitsu sa Monty Sport and Strada).
Better to get an assessment from another shop. Mahal pag Toyota. You can save more by buying the parts yourself also from shops like Toyorama and NGK in Banawe. W
hat Hiace model is this? Yung 2.4L or 3.0L na luma? Yung mga D4d naka timing chain na kasi. If the damage is too large, look at the option also of getting a surplus engine and reconditioning it.0 -
The engine of your car could be an interference type: that is the valve opens lower than the highest point of the piston. So when the timing belt breaks, the valve is left in open position with the piston come smashing on it. The damages could be broken valve, piston and worst cylinder head too. If there are some metal debris, the cylinder liner will also be compromised. So, tama lang yung quote sayo.

Thanks for the reply guys, 3.0 diesel model siya. Medyo malabo yun finax sa amin kaya I'll just post kung ano lang maintindihan ko pero ang dami ngang parts.
Engine Overheating
Cylinder something
piston something
thrust wash something
crankshaft
aircon belt
timing belt
shim # 46
intake valve
exhaust valve
Timing belt crucial yan, Slamm and EZrider said it best.
Look for other talyer who can charge cheaper and do the job reliably.0 -
Engine overheated also? If this resulted in a cracked engine block (or your engine block or cylinder walls are badly damaged), i'd suggest inquiring also about a surplus 3.0L. With this though you still have to recondition it (compression test it, put in a new t-belt, seals, water pump, glow plugs, etc.) but at least you can start over with an unmolested engine. If not, you can have the mechanic take apart the engine then have a good machine shop work on the block to repair it; make sure though that the mechanic and machine shop know what they're doing since taking apart the engine will also entail placing it back in the proper sequence of bolts, and setting the proper tolerances, torque specs, etc. If not, this can result in additional headaches or a suboptimal repair job.
At least the 3.0L engine is an old school one that is not too hard to work on unlike the current D4d engines.0 -

Balak na raw ibenta iyong Hi-Ace. Ang tanong: magkano lahat magagastos kasama ang reconditioned engine? Mababawi ba ang gastos kapag binenta? Kung hindi, e di ibenta na lang as is at huwag nang gastusan.

Yes, the economics comes to mind since he is selling it.
Naisip ko di kunin nya surplus engine and salpak lang BUT you have to register the newly installed engine sa LTO, sakit sa ulo yan.
Also selling a car with a busted engine mahirap din, sino bibili nyan (unless mura talaga)?
Kelangan talaga maintain your car.0 -

Whoops. Di ko nakita yung part na ibebenta. If that's the case, you can look at the option of not fixing it and sell it as-is, where is. Better than doing a shortcut, cheap-shot repair then passing it off as good condition to the buyer.
I'm not too familiar with the 3.0L surplus engine but it should be less than 50K if its just the engine (no transmission). Best to go around and inquire so the TS can look at his options:
- Sell as-is
- Get a surplus engine (if its not too costly) then sell at market value.
- Get a surplus engine, recondition and not sell the car
- repair the damaged engine.0 -
IMO, id rather repair it, then sell it at market value.
if you sell it as is, babaratin lang yan ng sagad sa lupa.0 -

Repair it even without knowing how much the repair will cost and whether you will recuperate the costs of repair?
You really are MATH CHALLENGED!!!

Or what you mean to say is simply to "mimimize losses" as much as possible?0 -

^ Ah ok, so you're starting from ZERO here... I thought you were also taking into account the amount he paid for when he 1st bought the vehicle.
... anyway, don't wanna argue, just want to clear things in my mind.
Depreciation cost hindi kasama sa equation iyon. Tinutukoy ko kung out of pocket / abunado iyong seller o hindi.

common sense tatang. mag costing muna bago mag decide. kahit sinong bobski e alam yan. umaandar nanaman ang pagka pilosopo mo.
dito sa pinas usually pag ganyan na may sira at ibebenta mo ng as is, babaratin yan ng sobra. buti pa palitan mo yung makina, marami naman surplus nyan. kesa ibenta mo as is na babaratin lang sayo na parang bilasang isda ang binebenta mo.0
