Aray ko... I'm working in a private company and dont have any relatives in BIR. Those statements mentioned above does not help in anyway. If you happened to know anybody doing not the right thing, why dont you file a case and challenge them in the court of law.

working on government? the advantage is you have a balanced time with your family, friends and work unlike in private , competition is tough, everyone is forced to excel, spending a lot of time in improving their job performance for promotion and rewards,
by the way , it depends on you, if you can excel in your work without taking the time spending with your family and friends, and other activities aside from your work., its better for to work in private because working in government, specially as BIR examiner can cause your life if you don't commit yourself to participate in its "system"
