Only one Filipino saint

tawkytawnytawkytawny Banned by Admin PExer
The Philippines is known to have the largest number of Catholics in Asia and also the only other country beside the Vatican City that has no divorce. Further, the Philippines had already scrapped the death penalty and does not have an abortion law or RH law. Despite its obedience to the Vatican, only one Filipino saint has been canonized so far. Non-Catholic Asian countries such as Vietnam, China, Japan etc have more than 2 saints. First world countries who have predominantly Catholic population have already implemented divorce laws and abortion laws for years already.

Why is the Philippines being the obedient son, was not given more saints? Are the Filipino people not worthy to be saints or it is just a big injustice to us by the Vatican? What is the price of following the Vatican City if we don't have enough saints or even cardinals? Even the Pope does not visit us regularly unlike other countries. It looks like we got a raw end of the deal. Don't you agree?

Nobody loves and respects an abject subservient attitude that our Catholic Pinoys show to the Vatican. We don't carry gravitas. We don't need to be treated well. Vatican does not have to think hard how to please us. Dozens of countries with much lesser Catholic population have more saints than us. China, India, the US, Italy (of course), etc.

We are the 3rd largest Catholic country - after Brazil and Mexico. But Brazil suffers from explosive Evangelical growth, and Mexico has a long history of violent anti-clericalism. Thus, we should have been treated as a special country by the Vatican.

But a meek country will be ignored. For example, the biggest scandal in the RCC right now is the Irish child abuse scandal. Ambassadirs were recalled in this escalating scandal. But think about it; Irish clergy were in the Philippines and yet nobody complained of sexual abuse in the Philippines. It is either we have saintly priests in Pinas or our victims are so cowed.

The only good thing about Pinoy meekness is that we have the largest number of Pinay nuns serving in domestic chores in all cardinalate palaces and Catholic institutions in Rome. They work hard but they are fulfilled and they feel safe (nuns somehow are safer than sacristans).

Sorry,ElCid and others, for rambling through many issues here. I'm a patriotic Pinoy like you, and I am just expressing some frustrations.
