Spratley Dilemma

Do you agree with the course that P-noy is taking regarding the Spratley Islands. 1) To strengthen the Philippine military capability 2) To bring the case to the International tribunal 3) To let China know that bullying is not accepted in this modern day 4) To ask the USA help in resolving this problem. Comments, suggestions, solutions or whatever you got, bring it on...

    1) To strengthen the Philippine military capability - pinaka maganda hingin natin yung F-14Ds na retire na ng US... we can buy those for 1 USD... lolz... kaysa scrap nila dba.... they are the most ideal sa island geography natin. they have very long range, and can act as mini-awacs... how about sa maintenance? why not buy 200 F-14Ds for 200 USD, and use some of them as spares? maintenance know how nalang ang kulang..

    2) To bring the case to the International tribunal - we can do this in parallel...

    3) To let China know that bullying is not accepted in this modern day - so? if you want peace be ready for war.

    4) To ask the USA help in resolving this problem. - EXPLOIT THIS. The south china sea is VERY critical for the US... bakit? dahil sa "Type 094" which carries JL-2:

china is making the south china sea a safe haven for these subs... there is no other location more effective for these subs to patrol other than the south china sea, they can target any area in the pacific rim, that includes Guam/Hawaii and the US navy pacific fleet.

JL-2 - range 7,200 km to 8,000 km, could carry either single or multiple warheads (conventional or nuclear).

Let me explain about the International Tribunal and why it is not an option. The International Criminal Tribunal or International Criminal Court was established by the UN in 2002 to "to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Criminal_Court

Please take note that it can only prosecute individuals (NOT countries) and only in specific crimes (DOES NOT include poaching in disputed territories or even international bullying). It is basically for war and human rights criminals. Nothing much more.

What do you mean by "if"? That Court will not accept your case. It is not a normal court na kahit ano pwedeng i-angat.

Uh, are we talking about the ICC or the ITLOS?

I believe what the Philippine Government want to do is to raise the issue before the ITLOS, or the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Quite a difference.

This tribunal is just appropriate because it was established after all for disputes arising from the UNCLOS or Untied Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
