Comments
Early favorites for the Rookie of the year award are the following:
BASER AMER the highly recruited HS player and NCAA Jrs MVP has yet to show his old self in the college ranks. Hopefully he'll pick up the slack quickly for he is badly needed by the Red Lions to man up the backcourt.
MARK CRUZ phenominal Point guard from Letran HS in the mold as the next Boyet Bautista.
JOLAS PAGUIA of EAC is a strong candidate basing from their first game. The kid recruited from FEU-Fern and a former PBB housemate posted 22 big points in their first game against a veteran Arellano Team.
MARK ROMERO also from FEU HS is showing some potential for the Blazers.
Other notable rookies are:
TAHA, Paolo of CSB
PATE, MICHAEL of CSB
ALTAMIRANO, Anton of CSB
TORRALBA, Joshua of EAC
KING, Igee of EAC
NIMES, Josan of MIT
RACAL, Kevin of Letran
THOMPSON, Earl of Perpetual
CARAMPIL, Rommel of JRU
GRILLI, Joshua of SSC
Note: YOUSEF TAHA the much talked about rookie during the preseason is no longer eligible for the award due to the 1 game suspension slapped on the rookie Cardinal for tossing the ball at Kevin Alas' head in Mapua's game 1 loss against neighbouring school Letran.
hindi na rin eligible si mark romero ng CSB transferee yan, member ng FEU tamaraws yan 2 seasons ago... is jolas paguia qualified for ROY?? ilan taon din yan nasa FEU team B 3 years yata.
correct me if im wrong but i think you're referin to juan paolo taha who is now suiting up for benilde because afaik yousef cane straight from the US
Wala naman yata. As long as the athlete hasn't played in a college ball game, he's still eligible for the award.
nasa line-up po siya...
ito po ang link
so eligible si jolas paguia to win ROY.. that guy is 22 years old already..
May pagka security agency din pala ang Benilde. Tadtad ng guards.
Youre losing way too much sleep on this Paguia kid as if he will actually gonna win the award. Weve seen a lot of so called veteran rookies who received the award. As of now NCAA has no plans of changing it. Even the other collegiate league has this practiced until it was changed a couple of years ago.
I think amer and racal had a good chance of winning the ROY..
you can include Ronnie Bughao and Gabby Espinas as one of the "not real rookies" as you say it who have won the award.
