I miss Simon on the show. If he was there, the contestants will be taking more risks, more improved. Could have taken Thia, Scotty and Lauren farther than Haley, James and Jacob

That was the lamest Finale ever!

I guess the producers got lazy!

Pairing Idols with aging celebrities..what is that?
Lusk sang with singers about three times his age.
Haley paired with 85 year old Tony Bennet!
Scotty paired with more than double his age Tim McGraw. And Scotty was at a disadvantage, truly Tim McGraw is a very seasoned singer while Scotty's performance pales in comparison. Tim McGraw's voice and delivery has more ooomph while Scotty's just sort of drags on.

Good for Casey and Lauren at least Jack Black and Carrie Underwood are closer to their age.

Lady Gaga is the only part of the monotonous lackluster evening that woke me up..but then the simulated sexual act was so unnecessary and parents would have been surely annoyed and disturbed watching the show with their young kids. The simulated sexual part of the song is not appropriate for a family show.

Not even Steven Styler can save the show. It was like watching a very aged Kyra Sedgwick having a very bad hair day and a long day at the office.

And the announcement of who the winner is was not that exciting. Most practically know that Scotty won the title hands down even before the show started.

All in all, America Idol is getting more and more not worth watching,
the lucky ones are those who Tivoed and DVRd the show because they can fast forward to the last 2 minutes if just to confirm who the winner is.

Why would anybody want the "bakya" Haley or the low-esteem Lauren to win? Correct me if I am wrong but did not all of them bottomed once or more? I don't care for any of the three finalists!

The Idol has become regional competition. Southerners vote more devotedly for their own. North Carolina obviously has more voters than Lauren's Georgia. It's just a battle of the south. I guess the next American Idol will be another one from the south, as interesting as that Taylor (where is he now?) Hicks.
Non-southerners might have more talents but the southern people will trumple them down! Next season, if there is a contestant from the south, they will become American Idol winner, no matter what!

DISAGREE. Hate the top 2 but the finale (results) was good. The guest performances were great. I just hated that Lady Gaga bit, wtf was that? The boring part was when they were announcing the winners. I always knew Scotty was going to win and I don't give a f***. Anticlimactic.

Steven Tyler. Bono. Beyonce. Carrie Underwood. Even spiderman was pretty kickass. Nuff said.

The finale performance night is probably the worst though. I can tell even without watching it. Can't stand watching two boring country singers for an hour.

loved it! and obviously viewers still think it's worth watching because the ratings soared this year. granted that the performance night wasn't as well-watched as the results show, but it was because it had to compete with another popular show (dancing with the stars), which announced its winners that night, and against which idol still did better in the 18-49 demographic (though it lost out on the total number of viewers).

oh, and i love the winner. i think he is the most talented among the bunch. he is very good at what he does, even if it's the only thing that he does. and he's aw shucks likeable. lauren also sounded greeeeat, even with her vocal problem.

i think this season marks a new era for the show. and i like the direction it's taking.
