BRAD & ANGELINA: Family, Charity & Career Part IV

OC_we!rdO
OC_we!rdO I'm Only Half-Evil!
WELCOME to the new thread of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie!!!

This encompasses anything about AJBP which can be of any topic anytime, anyways, and in this order from the wonderful Jolie-Pitt FAMILY they have created together including their kids or extended members of their family to the CHARITIES or humanitarian work or causes they are passionate about (e.g. AJ's UN work etc & BP's MIR) and about their respective CAREERS (actress/actor, producer, director, screenwriter).

Feel free to post anything about our favorite couple whose combined names as well as individuals has become a "brand" or created great effect/ impact in every sector of the society. Undeniably, their presence is felt everywhere whether physically, in spirit, heart & mind. Because they are so successful in their careers as well as in their other endeavors in life, people talk about them & of course believe them. Thus, their clout is unprecedented, unrivaled & unparalleled. They have much power in everything they do (for instance producers/directors go after them or they can recommend to change scripts etc). They have influence in a sense that they have credibility to ask or encourage help & assistance from others to their causes (they are not afraid to talk to politicians/world leaders etc). And of course, because they do remarkable things, they inspire people. Through their work, they indirectly/directly encourage other celebrities/personalities to also be of help to those who are in need, financially or whatever. Also, their wonderful family becomes an inspiration to a lot of people, that despite AJBP's busy schedule, they have find ways on how to build a family with love & care.

Love that we're continuing with the thread title. I think its apropos.

Here's to great things to come this afternoon. In about 2 or 3 hours time, we should be seeing photos from Cannes.

BTW, How come there's no toasting emoticon at PEX? I could use a drink. It's like 37 deg outside at only 10AM this morning. I refuse to go out for lunch in this heat. I could use a jug of mojitos though. :drinker::drink3:

    Thanks OC.

  • Angelina Jolie's Directorial Debut Gets a Title

Consider it an early Christmas present: Angelina Jolie's directorial debut will hit theaters on December 23, 2011, Deadline reports. Named In the Land of Blood and Honey, the movie is being distributed by FilmDistrict.

"The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it's also universal," Jolie, 35, said in a statement. "I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living in side a war."

Graham King, who financed the project with his GK Films partner Tim Headington, promises viewers won't be disappointed.

"Working with Angelina on this film and story has been a great collaboration and I am extremely proud of this film," he said. "The filmmaking is impeccable, and signals the arrival of a visceral and compelling storyteller."

Though the Oscar winner does not appear in the film, it features a cast of local citizens, many of whom were children of war in the '90s. "The former Yugoslavia has a rich history of dramatic arts. The cast was extraordinary," Jolie said. "I was privileged and honored to work with them and I am very excited for everyone to see their immense talent."

Tell Us: Will you watch Jolie's In the Land of Blood and Honey?

    Happy Terrence Malick Day!
by Dana Harris (Updated 1 hour, 7 minutes ago)

I am about to head for the first screening of Terrence Malick’s long-awaited “Tree of Life.” The Cannes press screening starts at 8:30 am. A press conference follows, at which, I am told, Mr. Malick will be there. (I ran into the cinematographer for the second unit yesterday, who said he wished people knew how “normal” Malick really was. All mysteries aside, “He’s just a really good person.”)

I hope we're allowed to post Getty images.

I wished he'd shaved off the goatee. Still sporting the slicked back hair (which balances the beard) and  at the glasses.

    You're welcome.

Penn is MIA. There's been no sighting of him in Cannes or Nice so maybe he's not coming.

Ok here is the first review, not sure how legit it is, apparently he wrote it while watching..

If the presence of Sean Penn takes over the appearance, Brad Pitt shows again in the role of a violent father, the extent of his talent, the maturation of his art. While some still had doubts, he is one of the finest actors of his generation. As for Terrence Malick, it performs with its Tree of Life, 2001: A Space Odyssey. A torn out, exploded but totally controlled. And especially a movie that pushes a little further the limits of cinema. You've never seen anything like it. The film once again reinvented in some way

Pitt ‘hesitant’ over role of abusive father

Brad Pitt said he hoped his children would realise his portrayal of a stern father in his latest film was down to him being “a pretty damn-good actor” and not because it was close to reality.

The star, who is at the Cannes Film Festival to publicise The Tree of Life which is in the running for the coveted Palme d’Or, plays an authoritarian parent bringing up a family in 1950s Texas in the film.

Pitt, who has six children with his partner Angelina Jolie, admitted he had been “hesitant” about taking on the role.

“I think about everything I do now my kids are going to see when they grow up and how are they going to feel but they know me as a dad and I hope they’ll just think of me as a pretty, damn-good actor,” he said.

    —-
Pitt said he took on the role, at least in part, to make sure the film got made. “Real strong scripts go by the wayside and don’t get made and we wanted to make sure this one did and so I jumped in.”

Pitt was joined by actress Jessica Chastain, who plays his wife in the film. Conspicuous by their absence were Sean Penn, who plays the couple’s son as an adult, and the film’s director Terrence Malick.

Penn, who producer Bill Pohlad explained was in Haiti, is expected at the festival later this week where another of his films, This Must Be The Place, is also in competition.

Producer Sarah Green said the reclusive Malick is “very shy” and Pitt defended his absence, saying an “an artist should not have to be a salesman”.

I'm watching the press-con right now. I'm just bowled over the smart questions being thrown at this press con and the equally smart answers. I just love it. There's no question Brad loves this film and is appreciative of Malick's genius. I'm also glad that Bill Pohlad is there - whom I think should share the credit.
