Need Advice: What's the best car to buy with a P200-250k budget?

Hi guys!

I would like to ask for your advice on the best car I can buy with a budget of P200-250k?

Preference: A/T

I'm not really familiar with the various make/type since I'm no expert on these matters. I hope you could give me some pointers or even your opinions based on experience.

Thanks in advance! *okay*

    I suggest you read Manila Bulletin's classifieds, particularly on Sundays. Saw a Civic SiR once for 250k.

(revo or crosswind)*okay*
    kung compact cars (civic, corollas)*okay*
  • @subaru_sti

    Thanks! I'll keep that in mind.

    @Verbl Kint

    Thanks for the advice.

    reg ka na lang sa tsikot, dre

    at post ka sa Car Buying Talk

    ala ka makuhang matinong sagot dito kasi panay yabang mga tao dito at karamihan sa kanila, wala sasakyan

    marami ka nga matututunan sa tsikot.com
  • @ka_enteng

    Thanks! Actually, I've browsed in tsikot a couple of times. However, since I'm not a member I decided to post here in The Pitstop hoping to get a sensible reply. I guess a few peeps from LMTV got lost...

    @sonicshadow14

    Agree. There are a lot of knowledgeable posters there. They give you practical tips on what to consider in purchasing a 2nd-hand car...

    @jpd74

    What do I need to worry about bro? Does mileage, model year or make have to do with it? Since I'll be using it for city driving, I really would prefer an A/T...
  • @reignman: AFAIK pag a/t kasi more or less after 5 years mahirap na maintenance ng tranny nya kaya marami ang nag aadvice na if 2nd hand mag manual ka na lang

    Check the car forums bro I can see a top of the line Exalta STA for 215k. Just use the remaining money for repairs and upgrade.
  • a auto trans has a valve body, a primary and secondary fluid pump and actuators that allow it to shift automatically. {more parts } , manual naman ay gearboxes lang .. {less parts } ....
  • @sonicshadow14

    I see. I thought mileage has more to do with it...

    @geekhead

    Thanks! Although I don't see it anymore. There are a few intriguing offers but it's at 300k or more. Agree, maintenance of a 2nd hand car is another thing to prepare for...

    @jpd74

    Thanks for the very informative insight! The only reason I'm really pressed in choosing A/T is that my wife would also want to drive it...
  • Since I'm getting limited options, I decided to increase my budget to 300K (It's unfortunate that I can't edit the title though).

    What would be my options for a 300K?

    Keep 'em coming guys!

    Thanks!

  • sa 300k puwede na ang suzuki alto {nasa 350 yata ang bnew }
  • @Bendita_Cristi

    Is that the Honda Fit? (Converted from RHD)

    @jpd74

    Alto is too small for me... Although it's really fuel efficient.

    Since I raised my budget to 300k, here are my choices so far: All are A/T

    1. 2004 Honda City 1.3L iDSI
    2. 2004 Mazda 3 1.6L (saw one in an ad, probably flooded :naughty:)
    3. 2005 Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia
    4. 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.6 GS
    5. 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.3 GX

    I prefer car models year 2003 and up... *okay*

    Your thoughts guys? :)

    4. 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.6 GS
    5. 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.3 GX

    With the limited info, trim it down to these 3.
    Whys:
    Honda - available service, "iba pa rin ang Honda" factor. But I did have really bad overheating problems with my old (as in 97) Honda :(
    Nissans - service, proven make, I'd actually go with the 2006 one kase city driving lang naman so you dont need harurot power. Mas tipid pa sa gas.

    ...I see a lot of wise-money advise na buy na lang good 2nd-hand cars, pero I dunno, with that kind of money actually pwede na yang pang down at 3 years (or less, if kaya mo) mo na lang bbyaran yung difference. Nakaka 1 year nako sa oto ko, 2 years to go :) Bago ko nakuha and casa maintained kaya buti la pa naman major probs.
  • vios or sentra {2nd hand or bnew } since both of then have 1.3 AT models ... mas malamig ang aircon ng sentra at mas malaki ang body ... good buy na ito.. sama ka lang ng mekaniko if 2nd hand ang kukunin mo ...
