St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC)

FOR IMMIGRANT, "K" AND "V" VISA APPLICANTS sa US na mag papa mediacal exam sa st. lukes or yung mga nagpa medical exam na dun.

i was searching online and i happen to see this blog http://coconuter.blogspot.com/2008/01/st-lukes-medical-extension-clinic.html
if you read on the comments ng mga readers, most of them e may mga badexperience sa SLMCEC nung time na nag pamedical exam sila. Most of them e tatakutin na may tuberculosis based sa xray nila then they would let them wait for 2-3 months para sa culture test ng sputum nila. parang nananadya lang, or naghihintay ng lagay para pabilisin yung process. If you have any experience with them, good or bad, please share naman po. thanks.

oh boy, yup i do agree. st Luke's is such an embarrassment to the U.S. Embassy. My Mom and Dad were scheduled at the same date for an interview with the US Embassy, so i sent them to St. Luke's to have their medical exam. My Mom's went good and apparently, my Dad's x-ray came up "Malignant" as claimed. My poor little sister was crying telling me that Dad got something in his lungs. I was working in MedSurg Unit at that time. i told her to demand a biopsy... I am a Nurse here at California , and i already know where the story is leading...Either they want bribe, get extra money or just plain IGNORANT...My poor Dad went back and forth To this ****in clinic, and I told him not to take any medicine or anything that they reccomend him to do. I told him that i will sue them if they're wrong..
Funny how it seems that after couple of hours, one nurse came up tp my Dad and offered him to do repeat x-ray with a different technician, asking for another 1,000 pesos.. Guess what? ****, he came out negative,,,,, Hell break loose, now i'm pissed.
My Dad got diabetes, and as far as i know he is up-to-date with his medical examinations and all his lab works are normal. I know coz i keep track of it.Then after all these, he was scheduled for Psych Eval. My Dad went to UE for college, worked for Pepsi-Cola company for 17 years, now u tell me he's crazy? they asked for additional money to do that test too.
then came where they asked for NBI clearance. St Luke's is only for Medical Examinations, why are they looking for NBI clearance? I called the National Visa Center here in States, called the US Embassy in Manila, but Iwasnt able to call the Clinic itself coz they wont pick up.
Finally my Dad was released after asking him for alot of money. I am the petitioner, and boy if i'm there in the Philippines I will sue them big time. My poor Dad came from along way, and these damn people are playing their games.

Yes this clinic is a ********! Until this date December 31, 2009 they are still the same **** as they were before. My Brother is scheduled for visa interview last november 2009, since it is required to take medical exam, He went to this clinic and boy it was a pain in d a...!!! Based on his Xray the doctor said he was in suspicion of habing TB because the xray result shown some blurdness on the upper part of his lungs, so he was instructed to take sputum test. He took test painstakingly since you have to be there early for 3 consecutive days. We are happy initially because all the 3 test went good, but inspite of that My Brother was instructed to take culture test that will take 2 months before the result will be released. The heck after more than a month they called us and told us that the result is now available. We hurried there on the date of our appointment. We were shocked because the person giving us the result told us without any humane consideration of what we are going to feel, told my brother "MAY TB KA" "NAKAKAHAWA KA!" Now they are telling us that he has to undergo medication for 6 months, and he has to take the medicine in front of them everyday. We told them that it will be very difficult and there could be other options because we are living outside metromanila. But we are told that they are the only accredited clinic in the philippines and perhaps we should transfer our residence in manila... Grrrr.... I was about to explode! GRABE!!!! Right until now we are still thinking what is the best thing we can do, because we reluctant to take any medication because my brother seems healthy and no symptoms at all. And they really dont care whether you will take long time to settle your requirements and the effect to your future, your feelings, your needs, and also the cost you will be spending. "Di yata mga Filipino mga tao dyan e, sa halip na makatulong sila, which in the first binabayaran naman sila, instead pahirap pa sila, and they dont really care na mahirapan ka at mamroblema, gusto lang kumita". Di malaman kung paano sila na qualify, and bakit walang ibang clinic na pwede mag administer ng medical exam, sila lang ba ang may kakayahan at marurunong tumingin? I hope this would get the attention of proper authority, specially our government to make an investigation. CURSE YOU BAD PEOPLE!

Today is March 11, 2010. My mom has been going back and forth in this damn clinic. They took her x ray last week and said it was blurry (which can be a result of little movements she might had made when it was taken.) They had her come back for the next 4 days this week for a freaking sputum test! Which by the way turned negative...and so because its negative (how ironic!) they told her they will culture it for the next 2 months!!! What the f**k?! Why can't they freaking redo the xray? My mom is not sick nor she has any TB (the thing they're testing for.) How do we know? Because she goes to her regular doctor and she went to a lung specialist at San Juan de Dios hospital and they have not found anything at all!!! Also, I have a young brother (7 yrs old) who lives with her who doesn't have a good immune system, which means if my mom had it he would have it as well...but guess what, nope he doesn't have TB nor any lung disease. Nobody smokes in my family over there so they're not exposed to that.

I'm an American guy who is trying to complete the K-1 process for my future Philippina wife. We are having the same problem as many here have reported. In Feb of 2010 she went for her x-ray. It should be noted that my finace'e had just had a normal x-ray a month before St. Luke's did their's. And it was 100% normal. St. Luke's reported that she and 18 others had positive x-rays and would have to under go the sputum testing. Which they report takes 2 months. Strange thing to note is on the 4th day of the process St. Luke's own Pulmonary Dr. looked at my fiance'es x-rays and told her the x-ray was normal! But could not explain why my fiance'e would have to continue with the sputum test. After she returned to her home town she had another x-ray and it was completely normal also.
I'm sure St. Luke's is making addtional money each time they do these unecessary tests. But it's unethical and shamefull. What St. Luke's clinic is doing is wrong, unnecessary, and unjustified. There needs to be an investigation into this clinic and the US government needs to find another provider. I have contacted The US State Dept. and the Bureau of Consular affairs and will be demanding an investigation. This needs to stop now! Anyone else who has had these problems please email me at [email protected]

i had my medical last week at SLMEC & i must say i was not satisfied with their service. most of the staff i dealt with were not accomodating/helpful. you should allot 2 days for the medical, 2nd day would be for the result & vaccination/immunization.

    Hi Bhebscruz,
I also had a bad experience with SLMCEC, they scheduled me for sputum test telling me they saw some scar...
Because I was bothered that I might really be sick, I had an x-ray immediately, that same day when they told me 'bout that sputum test, BUT nothing was found when I consulted a doctor and even went to another pulmonary specialist and again nothing was found, I went back to show them the latest result of my x-ray, but they did not even bother read nor review the x-ray film...
...but I have no choice, I have to obey them or else... they wont give me medical clearance...
It's a waste of money, time, and effort...

I am also the petitioner from the U.S.A., and a registered nurse. I just want to share what my mom and my nephew encountered with the SLEC employees! My mom had undergone her medical examination last Monday and she was accompanied with my nephew! I cannot just keep my mouth shut! Some of their employees are rude!! From ground floor to 5th floor! They are all bastos! One of them is the old woman sa cashier! All she cares is getting our money! She even don't know how to smile!!! Aren't you guys know what is a customer service?? Damn! Also the receptionists at the 4th floor! Next is the old woman at the 3rd floor, my nephew described her as kulot and wearing eyeglasses! She is also bastos!.. The one they call MANAGER at 2nd floor does not know how to handle complaints! And they calls herself as a MANAGER?? Even the releasing nurse sa ground floor, the one with big eyes and kalbo, I am not sure if it is EVO or IVO or NIVO!! I am also a nurse and I know how to act like a professional one! But these medical staffs didn't know how! I don't think these employees have the appropriate educational background to be in their positions! Are they all licensed? I WOULD LIKE TO CALL THE ATTENTION OF THE U.S. EMBASSY! THE EMBASSY SHOULD RECONSIDER HIRING INCOMPETENT STAFF AND MANAGEMENT IN THAT CLINIC!! so there..:grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:

hi I went to st.lukes last tuesday sept 25 everything went smooth kaso grabe yung waiting time talaga,be prepare for waiting time kasi mas matagal yung pag hihintay kesa sa medical..Staff ok naman sila accommodated naman sila or depende din sa attitude meron kasi ako nakitang nakikipagtalo dun sa nurse yung isang pasyente eh.
  • my bad experience was on the physician who did the physical. so antipatiko that i had to tell him "when was the last time you checked your nationality? i paid 9000 and part of that goes to your salary!"

I just want to share my recent Experience in SLMCEC, when I applied for Medical for my Canada VISA requirement....

When you say "St. Luke's" you will be treated with world Class Service but I was wrong. First thing that I have noticed, the guards are not that polite the tone of their voice is like you are being interrogated for a crime. The next thing that I have noticed is that there is no waiting area for the applicant's companion as a result they really need to wait outside the building. Next thing that I have noticed is the cashier, she is very monotonous and all she just ask is for the Money (like in what I read in previous forums and post). Some nurses in Canada/Aus/.NZ reception, kudos to them they still able to smile and treat the patients/customers well, except for the Nurses and receptionist in the X-ray and laboratory they are very grumpy! they will answer your questions in a rude manner,Another thing is the physical exam, the doctor that do the Physical exam is a very old doctor (I think he should Retire), who treat you like a kid and the same way being treated as I if I was not educated, he always scold me to lean on the chair , he also says "Basahin mo yung nakalagay dun":hmm: as if they were underestimating you in your capability to read..duh.:rolleyes:He even let another doctor inside the room and do some lecture while asking some questions and while examining my behind, as if I was a subject of an experiment.Again, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

There is Very Long Queue and waiting time for a clinic that you expensively pay for the service. It was expected and given that the volume of patients is high, but again it adds to your agony when you experience a customer service like this. There are also some positive points, like they are somehow organize and limited employees with a good attitude, overall the experience is Horrible, if only US./Canada Embassy would only knew about this, hopefully they decide to choose another clinic or better yet a hospital considering the volume of people having their medical exams.

  • I'm really disappointed with their service. If they find an abnormality with an x-ray result then a doctor should be available to explain and show us the finding that they saw on the film. This is a serious matter and shouldn't be forwarded to the nurse and just inform us they find abnormalities without elaborating. I don't think their service is worth 16k plus.

Holy sh!tballs my in laws went through hell to get medical clearance from that sh!thole St Luke. I felt for my wife as she felt helpless here in Sydney. It gave me roid rage listening to the incompetent motherfu (kers try to explain themselves. Made me wish I was there to pimp slap some sense into the staff. What kind of accredited facility allows it's building to not have an elevator running for weeks? A 77 y.o. walking up 5 fu#king floors and made to go back and forth from Pampanga about 4 times. Someone should film their incompetence and sell it to abscbn. I'll never whinge about the free health care provided by Australia's medicare again.
