Studying abroad. Need realistic expectations.

Hello all. I just got my US immigrant visa and now i'm thinking if it's worth studying abroad for college. I hope people who studied in the US can help me with this. i have a bunch of questions.

1. What are the pros and cons aside from the obvious answers, (better quality of education, exposure to other cultures, better training etc) of studying in the US?
2. What are the things that i have to prepare for (boarding, job, academic workload etc)?
3. How hard/easy is it to get approved for financial aid and/or scholarship?
4. As we all know, napakamahal magcollege sa states (30k-40k USD average--is this annual or per sem?) that's why i'm planning to take the community college route (2 years community college, remaining 2 years uni) has anyone here done this before?
5. How challenging is their academic workload?
6. Is it possible to have a full-time job while studying full time as well?

things to consider:

a) as i said, i'm going to go to a community college first for 2 years then continue my studies on a uni later on para di masyado mabigat sa bulsa
b) i'm gunning for the top unis (brown, berkeley, caltech, stanford, princeton etc)
c) i will be living by myself with no financial support from my parents or relatives

Right now, i'm banking on financial aid and, hopefully, a scholarship or a grant to get me through my college finances.

hope someone out there could help! thanks!!

madalas eh dapat magreside ka muna sa state kung saan yung school mo for a year para magqualify ka sa in state tuition
else, out of state tuition babayaran mo, mas mahal po yan ng malaki

yun pa isa kong problema, residency :( minimum 1 year talaga? so bale ang diskarteko dun, yung 1 year na yun, i'll spend it working para may konti naman akong pera pambayad sa tuition ko.OR maybe i could spend that 1 year in community college (since 2 years din ako magccommunity).

nung kayo ba sir nakakuha din kayo ng scholarship? dami daw kasi sobra na pwede applyan e
