    WHAT THE EFF?!!

    Tsk.

    Just my two cents. ;)

Just look at the lengths of KPop fans here would do to promote their albums. They would literally visit record companies and petition for their idols to have albums available here. And once may album launches ang KPop idols dito, may enggrandeng event pa.

    T-Ara album launch at TriNoma

Eh 'yung OPM, kapag may album launch naglalagay lang ng mga kopya sa record bars and that's it. O kaya gagawa ng ingay by making irrelevant news.

So don't blame the public for growing tired of OPM. It's no longer original anyway.

Hindi naman sa sinisiraan ang OPM just to praise foreign music to the highest heavens, which would have been a perfect example of crab mentality.

I am just speaking the truth.

    pero what happened...puro revive/remake...thats not original...:bop:

Miss the days where Rivermaya/Eheads/Parokya ang naririnig sa radio...*okay*
  • Hindi naman OPM yung mga revivals. RPM pwede pa. :glee:

OPM. "O" sa OPM means ORIGINAL right? eh bakit almost 90% ng mga OPM na pinapatugtog sa radio (masa stations) revival lang? how can they call it OPM? dahil ba pinoy yung kumanta kaya siya tinawag na OPM? WTF?!

don't get me wrong, I used to be an OPM fan. nung 90's todo suporta ako sa OPM. ultimong makikipag unahan pa ako sa ibang tao para lang makabili ng album ng eheads/rivermaya/PNE & others. ngayon, look at the industry, halos lahat ng naglalabas ng album revivals lang. pano ka naman gaganahan bumili ng album na yun kung nirevive lang yun.

well ang mga musician and those BIG records company din naman ang pumapatay sa OPM imbes na magproduce ng mga original songs anung pinaggagawa nila puro accoustics version..

like some big OPM singers now na puro revivals na like Sarah G, erik santos, nina and etc.

Suit yourself, RPM stan. Magkuntento ka na lang sa revival ng Poker Face while you're at it. :glee:

The lack of support for indie bands is the main problem. The commercial OPM sucks to the extent, but I think if you'd search for underground music, you'd find an OPM gem in there.

Also, the lack of originality is the main problem. When the likes of Hale and Cueshe became popular, every upcoming new bands would follow that trend. Eventually making people bored with OPM. Add to that, you have Rico Blanco - who now sings in a British accent; coming off trying to hard to sounds like Chris Martin.

And for me, the best OPM I own so far was still Imago's first album. Superb lyrics and production.

I miss the Eraserheads days, you know the bands form the 90's which made the OPM industry growing but now, as far as I see this, I think we need to somehow improve our genre instead it slumped pero ganyan talaga ang Pinoy. Kung ano ang wave, or trending, we follow.

    Correction: What I said pala.

    Re:

And one more thing, OPM isn't really OPM, masyadong western (Don't get me wrong, I love OPM, too). Our real music is very ethnic, ang problema sa atin, we never appreciate it.

As of now, the only Pinoy acts that I can appreciate are The Camerawalls (love their collaboration with Sarah Gaugler of TurboGoth) and - hold your horses - Slapshock

    Why Slapshock?

Even when Jamir and co. initially came into the scene as "The Philippines' own version of Linkin Park", they have managed to rise well above their much-derided rap-metal "kupaw" roots. In blossoming into an original, independent musical force, they've managed to keep their integrity, not trying to wh0re themselves out for the corporate buck (I'm looking your way, Parokya ni Edgar, 6CycleMind....)

  • QT IIQT II PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
Well, my jury's still out on them (Greyhoundz & Queso), at least when Slapshock stated that they were being influenced by the likes of Killswitch Engage that they were definitely not angling for a slot at Party Pilipinas.

Let's not forget Ian Tayao's post-Queso/Cheese project, WilabaliW
  • Music in the radio is mostly crap (anywhere in the world). To those people who say OPM sucks (and by OPM you mean music made by Filipinos), get your ears off mainstream radio or your eyes off the TV.
