anima9anima9 I ignore idiots :) ✭✭
With exceptions like those hailing from the Faculty of Medicine, I think UST would be more appreciated than it is now if we were to abolish the uniform policy.

I mean, think about it. Top schools around the world don't have a uniform policy. I think we should try to follow that certain trend and see how it works.

Or would that be against the conservativeness of the university?

    NO :)

No. Mas convenient kasi sa akin pag may uniform.

No. It's practical and hindi na magkakaroon ng problema sa kung ano ang bawal at hindi maaring isuot sa escuela. Saka it saves you time for thinking what to wear saka makes you less conscious on what you're wearing.

    a big NO.

    NO.

Why should UST conform just because the top schools do not have a uniform policy? UST is THE Catholic University of the Philippines. UST has been known for their uniforms as well. We would do better to focus more on improving our curriculum and the selection process, developing more research-oriented programs, install better facilities and such than dwell on this petty issue of uniforms.

Convinience would be the most common reason why it is better to have the uniform policy. *okay*

but with regard to what you have posted, I don't get your point on why or how we could keep up with the "top schools" if we do not have the uniform policy. I mean, does it have anything to do with the students' academic performance? And don't you think that it is easier to recognize our school's identity if we have uniforms? BTW, we are top 101 in Asia. ;)

Also, the university's uniform policy has already been its tradition. it was patterned from the european schools. can't remember the whole thing but this was discussed during last miting-de-avance in AB.:D

I don't know. It sounded like a good idea at the time. I get the point of Labuyo (and you guys) and believe me, I considered it as much as he did before I finally had the guts to make a thread about it.

Well in any case, I just found it a bit uncomfortable specially when I have to bring separate clothes when I knew I'll go somewhere after class.

I mean, I didn't like wearing uniforms outside the school for two reasons:

    1. It wasn't my thing. I found it intolerable for our climate.
    2. I didn't want to tarnish the name of the school. I mean, what if I did something weird (intentional or not) outside the school and people saw me and they would say "Hala! Yung bata parang napapraning! Taga UST pa man din!" :/

No to mention those students who were involved in various scandals (not just the sex ones) in which photographs of them wearing their uniforms + ID while doing something either legally or morally wrong.

The worst thing that we did while in uniform?

Well, there were no classes that day but we went to the ice skating rink in Megamall.

Keep the uniforms, it has been our identity for decades/centuries.

I mean, bakit sya weird? Wala ba tayong pwedeng i-consider man lang?
  • kulotz5555kulotz5555 Gianvittorio

Let's not condemn the TS just by bringing up the idea, opinion lang naman eh diba. But again, ayoko rin iabolish ang "uniform" policy ng UST - Catholic schools are known for having uniforms. For practicality reasons narin.

There's nothing wrong about our uniform naman. Actually it makes me proud to wear my uniform - I have an identity na sinasabing "uy, taga UST yan". It's a secondary benefit lang naman pero alam mo yun, the primary benefit of having a uniform policy again, is practicality. You can wear the same uniform for your whole college life. Lalong magastos on the part of the parents.

    NO!!!

    @ Clawed

My friends and I used to do the same thing!!:bop::rotflmao::lol:

    @ Anima

Atleast even when you're outside the campus, you will still be reminded that you are a Thomasian para maiwasan gumawa ng kahit anong kahiya-hiya. Still, agree din ako sa point mo.:p
