TWO top survey firms – Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations – are packed with relatives of Sen. Noynoy Aquino, casting doubt on the credibility of the surveys conducted by the two agencies.

A quick look at the corporate make up of the survey firms would leave more doubts on the people’s mind, especially those who consider surveys as the benchmark of the coming elections.

Records of both firms at the Securities and Exchange Commission show interlocking directorship, with several personalities appearing as stockholders of both SWS and Pulse Asia.

Felipe Miranda, Rosalinda T. Miranda, Gemino H. Abad, Mercedes R. Abad, Jose P. de Jesus appear as the founders and or stockholders of both SWS and Pulse Asia.

On top of that, some of the prominent members of the board and stockholders of Pulse Asia and SWS are relatives or friends of the Aquinos. Jose P. de Jesus, one of the founders and stockholders of Pulse Asia, was secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways during the time of President Cory Aquino. Antonio O. Cojuangco, cousin of the Liberal Party standard bearer, initially bankrolled Pulse Asia, while Rafael Cojuangco Lopa, also Noynoy’s cousin and executive director of the Ninoy Aquino Foundation, was president of Pulse Asia until last year.

SWS, meanwhile, was founded in 1986 by Dr. Mahar Mangahas, Prof. Felipe Miranda, Jose P. de Jesus, and Mercy Abad among others. Pulse Asia was founded when Miranda and Mangahas parted ways.

On Thursday, Pulse Asia issued the result of its latest survey conducted from April 23 to 25. Aquino topped the survey with a 19 percentage point lead over his two closest rivals—Sen. Manny Villar and former President Joseph Estrada, who were tied at second place with 20 percent.

Some presidential candidates, among them Gilbert Teodoro, **** Gordon and Manny Villar, have dismissed the political surveys, saying they do not reflect the pulse of the electorate.

Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes admitted in a radio interview that in their surveys in previous elections, there was a big difference between their results and the final actual votes. However, Pulse Asia research fellow Ana Tabunda said that the results are already an “indication” of the results of the elections on May 10.

  • YELLOW CRYING WOLF: My relatives say that my surveys are credible!

BOY SUPPOSED TO BE CRYING: relatively speaking, wala kang credibility
  • I'm just wondering given all this information about Aquino's relatives or associates in these 2 firms, how accurate are the surveys about the people's attitude towards GMA? All of these survey results could have been manufactured.

  • So why is it that the Nacionalista believe in surveys after all? According to them,

With barely two weeks to go before Election Day, the Nacionalista Party (NP) said it is focusing more on solidifying its ground support and vote delivery to ensure victory for its standard-bearer Manny Villar and his slate.

“While we acknowledge the veracity of pre-election polls by various survey firms, we believe that surveys do not make a candidate win. The war has now shifted from media battles to capturing battlegrounds that will deliver the actual votes. This is the real deal, and we are prepared to go for the kill,” NP spokesman and senatorial bet Gilbert Remulla said.
  • after this election, Pulse Asia and SWS will go bankrupt for lack of credibility.

all of the presidentiables believe in surveys, even the laggards group. the fact that the laggards group have been complaining about survey results shows they read them and recognize they are at the bottom of the polls. they complain because they are at the bottom.

How about this survey by Campaigns and Images Group, commissioned by British and American investor firms, with 51,000 (Yes, FIFTY ONE THOUSAND, not just 2000) respondents from different sectors and age groups. Guess who they pick?

Interlocking directorship within two polling firms

The SWS was founded in 1986 by Dr. Mahar Mangahas, Prof. Felipe Miranda, then DPWH Sec. Jose P. de Jesus (under President Aquino), Mercy Abad among others while Pulse Asia was founded in the 90s when Prof. Felipe Miranda separated from Mangahas and bolted SWS. It should be noted that Mangahas is the cousin of the late presidential candidate Fernando Poe, Jr. while some of the prominent members of the board and stockholders of Pulse Asia are blood relatives of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, official candidate for president of the Liberal Party. The corporate records of both firms that are available at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will also show interlocking directorship with several personalities appearing as stockholders of both SWS and Pulse Asia.

Felipe Miranda, Rosalinda T. Miranda, Gemino H. Abad, Mercedes R. Abad, Jose P. de Jesus appear in SEC records as being founders and or stockholders of both SWS and Pulse Asia.

Mercedes R. Abad who is president of TRENDS-MBL is the one who used to conduct the field research for both SWS and Pulse Asia.

Jose P. de Jesus of Pulse Asia was the DPWH Secretary during the time of the late Pres. Cory Aquino.

Antonio O. Cojuangco and Rafael Cojuangco Lopa of Pulse Asia are cousins of Sen. Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Cojuangco Aquino III.

  • ^ 1875, I think we should up this thread continuously.

Alam mo ba ang strategy ng mga yellow paid hacks ngayon: they're trying to bury the threads that contain the truth about NoyNoy. Wag nating hayaan mangyari ito..!
