Ang Pinagmulan ng Ngalang Pangunahing Gusali ng Pinagpalang Pamantasan

MisterHappyMisterHappy Minanipulang Talipapa PExer

    1. The UST Main Building Tower then served as the Kilometer 0, since it was the highest structure during its time of establishment.
    2. The faculties of Philosophy and Letters, Liberal Arts, Medicine and Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering and College of Education were the first occupants of the UST Main Building when it was opened on July 2, 1927.
    3. During the Spanish Era, UST served as the Ministry of Education similar to today's CHED since it was the only tertiary school then. High School students from Ateneo and Letran must have the UST Rector's approval before graduating from secondary school.
    4. Nueva Segovia, Cagayan (where Fr. Miguel de Benavides was assigned as its 1st bishop) and Intramuros, Manila were the options then as to where UST's home campus will be built.
    5. During the American Era, UST was offered to become the National University of the Philippines but the Dominicans refused it. As a result, UP was founded in 1908 through the first Philippine Legislature under the authority of the United States.
    6. When there's a "Faculty" attached on the name of the college, this means that it is the first college established in the Philippines offering its respective courses courtesy of UST i.e., (Faculty of Sacred Theology, Faculty of Canon Law, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Civil Law, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine & Surgery, Faculty of Arts & Letters and Faculty of Engineering).
    7. The huge stones scattered along the "lover's lane" and other parts of university are actually rubbles of the old UST campus in Intramuros.
