CC | PIN Key-in in every transactions?

Ei guys, just wanna ask kung anong credit card issuing bank ang may feature na bago i-process ang transactions mo, kelangan mo ivalidate or i-authorize using your PIN?

also, yung mga some debit cards, nagpi-PIN.

Eh sa CC? May ganon din ba? Anong credit card?

Yung ate ko credit card niya kasi is from ireland bank.

Usually BancNet / Expressnet and not Megalink.

Di gaya ng SterlingBank of Asia na Visa Debit card walang minimum amount to purchase kasi under ng Bancnet.

I think walang ganito dito sa Pilipinas, kasi mas preferred nila yung signature - based. Pwede kasing i- contest kung sakaling may fraudulent use sa credit card. ;)

Kung PIN - based kasi parang walang katibayan, kasi numerals lang mag - appear, di gaya ng signature - based may personal touch.. :rotflmao: pirmado eh.. :D

I think this has more to do with merchants than the actual cards.

As far as I know, most newer cards now should have the 'chip' embedded for PIN transactions instead of signatures.

The new replacement I got for my old card (from a foreign bank) as well as my new (December lang) local HSBC card have the chips on them.

But even if you have a newer card with the chip, if the merchant only uses the old signature system, then you have to sign instead of keying in your PIN.

    Ganun yata, AFAIK.

Its dependent on both the acquiring bank (the firm that issues the credit card terminal) and the credit card issuer. Kung sa tingin nila na mas safe ang PIN-based transactions they may support that type of credit card authorization method.

Sa ibang bansa, if the authorization method is via signature, the machine will ask the merchant if the signatures match (answerable by a Yes or No) as final approval of the transaction.

some credit cards like Citibank has your pics. Nakalagay ask for IDs.

Like, at one time, may credit card numbers were stolen and was used to buy pizza everyday @ 60$. I did not notice it until I got my statement. Siguro araw araw nagpizza si mokong hanggang magtae. They reversed all the transaction at wala akong binayaran ni singko.
