RNs, Lets start a thread that would help our future colleagues prepare for their board exam. This thread is also open for any questions and inquiries regarding the upcoming exam.

Anyway to those who will be taking the exams.. my advice would be to give extra focus in your IMCI and NURSING RESEARCH. Hindi nawawala yan sa board exam and you'll soon appreciate the extra effort when you're answering the test booklet and realize na there's 100+ questions related to it.

salamat sa tips, im taking the exam this june

Another tip is to know and recognize a subject's focus. This will really help when you encounter choices that are all seem correct.

    Example would be.

    COPAR/Community Health Nursing: Self-Reliance
    Nursing Procedures: Client's Safety
    Psychiatric Nursing: Therapeutic Communication
Prioritization / Emergency Nursing: ABC of life and Maslow's

Also.. don't forget to "browse" your Nursing Management, COPAR and Diagnostic Procedures. Marami rin lumalabas dyan. =)

Remember not to spend too much time and effort in a single subject. Malawak ang board exams, maraming sakop na fields. At this time, which is less than a month left, there's really no need to be super comprehensive, no need to master your books word-for-word.

Be a well-rounded examinee, master the basics and understand the concepts and you will be fine.

    Good Luck!

    1. pray
    2. focus on a certain subject when you review and don't skip subject matters
    3. recall previously reviewed materials at the middle of reviewing other subjects to increase retention
    4. make pathways or diagrams after you have finished a certain subject matter
    5. pray again

kelan daw ang release ng result? mahirap bang talaga?
  • xyrwynxyrwyn Member PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
nag take yung ate ko last June 6, 1st test palang daw ang hirap na.

and kinakabahan siya, baka ma technical daw siya, e madami daw bumabagsak dun. totoo ba?
  • nikkilovenikkilove Member PEx Influencer ⭐⭐⭐
^ What do you mean technical, like sa binura yung lapis.

I remember mine, skipping one number tapos nagtuloy tuloy na ng around 7 items, I erased it and re shaded the blocks. Passed naman.

And another classmate of mine, nalukot daw yung answer sheet nya, pero di naman totally crumpled, pero he still passed.

Mahirap talaga boards kapatid, parang wala sa pinagaralan mo yung exams. Decision making kasi sya and judgement.

Pray na lang kamo. Lahat naman feeling babagsak after the exam dahil di ka sure sa mga sagot mo. Pero eventually papasa din ang karamihan if not the 1st take, sa succeeding exams. It doesn't matter so long na papasa sya eventually and magkaka license.

    1. Listen attentively. Instead of focusing on taking down notes, it is more important to pay attention to the lecturer in the review class. If your concentration is on note-taking, you might miss some important tips that the lecturer is giving. Just jot down the main points of the lesson and listen to the lecture itself. At home, remember to go through your notes again to review the things you have learned.
  • PrinceXavieRPrinceXavieR Time to Move On PExer
Try to answer the test questions. Do not waste the handouts and sample board exam questions that are provided by the review centers. Read the materials and try to answer the sample questionnaires. Check your answers and see the areas where your answer is wrong so you can review on it further.

    3. Try the magic of mnemonics. Studying for an exam is almost synonymous to doing a lot of memorizations. And making mnemonics will truly help you memorize things. Make your mnemonics easy to find by posting it in places you always see or frequent such as your desk, your bag, table, bedroom, etc.
