MANILA, PhilippinesThe new rules on fouls being implemented in the Motolite PBA Fiesta Cup have not only drawn the ire of the coaches and players, but the members of the leagues board as well.
A member, who asked that he not be identified at the moment, told scribes of the boards plan to discuss the controversial rules in their next meeting at the end of the month.
The board, he said, will also ask commissioner Renauld Sonny Barrios to revamp his technical staff.
The official claims to have the support of the majority of his peers.
(These new) rules are taking away the beauty of the games, the board member told the Philippine Daily Inquirer at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City Sunday night. There are a lot of silly fouls being called and its just unfair to all the teams.
The problem here is not the rules per se, but their implementation, which starts from those who teach our referees how to implement them, continued the board member.
Imagine, we came from a tournament (Philippine Cup) that was almost no-harm-no-foul and then they changed the rules drastically.
Ramil Cruz, a former University of the Philippines cager, is the PBAs technical chief, with veteran international referee Romy Guevarra as consultant.
I will have to look into the complaints regarding the officiating, Barrios said, adding he had heard of such a move by certain board members.
But not knowing what the complaint is all about (at this time), its difficult for me to fully react. I will have to look at the merits of the complaint and then address them.

dapat FIBA rules na lang gamitin, tutal FIBA naman sasalihan nating international competition eh. hindi naman tayo sasali sa NBA as a team
