Meet the Archuleta Family
David's dad is Jeff, and he was born and raised in Utah. His moms name is Lupe and she emigrated from Honduras from her hometown of San Pedro Sula, Cortes.
Daddy Jeff Archuleta is a jazz trumpet player and his mom (both age 42) sings pop music in both English and Spanish.
Jeff and Lupe's children consist of 3 girls and 2 boys with David being the 2nd oldest. Listed in order from eldest to youngest: Claudia (19 ), David (17), Daniel (14), Jazzy (11), and Amber (9).
Background and Song List in his appearance on Star Search:
When David started on Star Search, he already started showing symptoms of bronchitis, which would later lead to his vocal paralysis when he reached the age of 13 and 14. One of his vocal chords was paralyzed and underdeveloped. The doctors said he can have surgery, but it was very risky. He didnt want to take the risk because he wanted to sing. He was actually supposed to record a CD after Star Search because of his big success there, but wasnt able to due to his vocal paralysis.
David once performed on the Jenny Jones show. He sang And I Am Telling You by Jennifer Holliday.

David Archuleta is a contestant on American Idol. He has been called The Soul man from Utah, the Soul Midget King, Mini Motown Monster and a singing prodigy. Davids natural soulful voice has captivated America through his performances on Jenny Jones and most recently as the junior singer grand prize winner of Star Search 2. David Archuleta was born in Miami, Florida on December 28th 1990 and spent the first six years of his life in various cities in florida. In February of 1997, David and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he lives with his parents, his brother and 3 sisters and 2 cats. He comes from a musical family where his mother sings both Spanish and English pop music, and his dad is a jazz trumpet player. David began singing at the age of 6 when he memorized several songs from the Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert, complete with English and Cockney accents. When he was 10 he participated in the Utah Talent Competition and although VERY reluctant to go perform in public, and feeling extremely nervous, he went onstage and sang I Will Always Love You and received a standing ovation. He has since been featured on Janny Jones, and the last several months have included performing 3 times on Star Search, being seen on CBS The Early Show. He is now in negotiations to record some new material and will be releasing a new CD soon.

Pulse and other sources have announced that Jive Records has submitted David Archuletas name for the 51st Grammy Awards to be held in February 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This has been confirmed through the Official Grammy Awards Website.
The Grammy Awards (originally called the Gramophone Awards)or Grammysare presented annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States for outstanding achievements in the record industry. The awards ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and some of the more prominent Grammy Awards are presented in a widely-viewed televised ceremony. The Grammys are considered the highest music honor, the U.S. record industrys equivalent to the Academy Awards (Oscars) for motion pictures.

Its that time of the year again for the 2008 American Music Awards presented by the ABC network on November 23rd. Rumors have been floating around the web in regards to a possible appearance by David Archuleta. However, that has not been confirmed and ABC has not released its list of award presenters. They just recently released a list of 7 performers for the award show. But not all hope is lost. As Archie fans, we stand united and we can get our voices heard by making it known on the ABC forum.

Two weeks to go!
COUNTDOWN To 11/11
Let's talk about what we need to do on 11/11 to help David Archuletas CD become successful. I think we need to be realistic with our goals. Since T-Pain and Taylor Swift are also releasing albums on that week, David has some competition. I think a #1 CD is not totally out of the equation, but I think we should gun for a strong #2 at the very least, much like Jennifer Hudsons debut a couple of weeks ago. In fact, I think we should beat Jennifer Hudsons first week sales of 217,000 units sold thats a MUST. Its all about units guys, Jennifer Hudsons sales could have easily been #1 on any other week. So if David Archuleta sells at least 217,000 units on 11/11 I am going to be ecstatic whether or not he is #1 that week.
The second stage is sustained growth for the CD. This is where Jordin Sparks comes in. Jordin had the lowest debut week in American Idol history selling 119,000 units in November last year. She however has gone on to sell 932,000 units as of last month, which indicates that she has staying power. By comparison Taylor Hicks started with 298,000 units, but ended up selling 703,000 units in 2 years. I would love to see David Archuletas CD sell consistently throughout the year just like Jordins. Promos by his record label will help, but we can do our part as fans to spread the word about David Archuleta door-to-door if we have to! There is also our gifting campaign which justifies one person buying multiple copies its for others. We can do a convert 11 new David Archuleta fans from now until 11/11 and beyond.

A-maizing tribute: Cornfield maze to Immortalize Archuleta
"American Idol" star David Archuleta is bigger now than ever before literally.
Covering 12 acres, Archuleta's likeness, along with the phrase "Archuleta 4 President," is cut into the cornfield at the 2008 Cornbelly's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest located at Thanksgiving Point.
During an election year, corn maze creator and The MAiZE founder, Brett Herbst, said his focus was initially turned to presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama.
"We really thought of Obama and McCain at first, but everyone we talked to was sick of the candidates," Herbst said. "Then we said, 'Let's do Archuleta."'
Herbst said they had to get permission from Archuleta's agent before going forward with the maze. Archuleta garnered more than 40 million votes while competing on "American Idol" earlier this year. Herbst said the corn maze was a good way to honor the Utah native's accomplishment. Maze visitors will have a chance to win an autographed copy of Archuleta's new self-titled album when it's released Nov. 11.
While he wasn't sure if Archuleta would be able to make it to the maze because of his schedule, Herbst said the young star hasn't ruled out a visit at least he hasn't said no. In a statement from California, where he is working on his new album, Archuleta said he's seen a lot of things and had a lot of experiences because of "American Idol."
"It's great to have another special memory to add from my home state of Utah," he said.
Herbst said nearly 63,000 people visited his corn maze at Thanksgiving Point last year. A Brigham Young University graduate originally from Salmon, Idaho, Herbst grew up on a ranch and created his first corn maze in 1996. Since then he's designed more than 1,200 mazes in five countries. The largest company of its kind, The MAiZE is working with more than 200 different corn maze locations just this season.
"Some people thought it was just a fad," Herbst said. "But it's a tradition now and it's here to stay."
The corn maze opens Friday and will run through Nov. 1 from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to the corn maze, Cornbelly's offers 20 other attractions from hay rides to pumpkin picking.
