hi guys, im trading in my 2003 ford escape 4x2 manual to get the sportage 4x2 crdi automatic. they really do have the highest appraisal : 500k for my excape. you think the sportage is a good dependable car with regards to durability and fuel efficiency? i have heard a lot of bad feedbacks about the sportage so i wanted to ask you guys your thoughts about the car. they also say that kia units are somewhat overpriced any truth to this?
p.s. my ford escape is always in and out the shop. hindi talaga maganda ung performance niya even nung bago pa siya. so wanted to be sure about the sportage. thanks.

eto ba yung facelifted version? kasi mukhang di pa lalabas yung 2008 USDM escape... and if ever man, wala naman silang diesel variant...0 -
why not try the new everest? makakakuha ka pare ng good deal sa Ford Manila. Okay ang service. I trade-in mo yung escape mo and mag inquire ka about dun sa drve now pay next year promo nila. Pero hanggang at the end of the month nalang yung promo try mo pa humabol pare.
About dun sa escape, ang sabi eh magkakaron daw ng diesel. daw ha. itatanong ko nalang ulit para sure0 -
we have a sportage crdi, but it's a 4x4 version, bought last sept. 2007 at kia signet, edsa. to answer your question, it is really very fuel efficient, as what one would expect from a diesel crdi engine. certainly you should not compare it to the fuel mileage you get from a gas suv like your ford escape as that is not a fair thing to do. but just to give you an idea, a full tank of our sportage on a monday does not even reach the halfway point after friday afternoon given the qc-makati office route on rush hour BOTH directions. (sorry i have yet to compute actual kilometer per liter mileage. too lazy, i guess.). note that it is usually used on 4x2 mode , not 4x4 setting (as one can manually shift from one to the other).
as for the acceleration at the usual 4x2 mode, i would say it is noticeably faster than our other suv, a 2003 honda crv (gas). more responsive. just don't ask me how many seconds from 0 to 60 kms. wouldn't know.
the P500K trade in value being offered to you for your ford escape is indeed reasonable. i've seen some escapes in the 2nd hand market reach as low as P 375K. (www.sulit.com.ph)
we personally chose the sportage over the similarly priced tucson because the latter is too common on the road. at this rate, the sportage does not appear to be picking up speed in terms of new suv buyers' preference. we hope it'll remain that way, hehe.0 -
wow, okay na yung P500k for the second hand escape
on the other hand, why dont you consider getting a Hyundai Tucson 4x2 CRDi AFAIK, the tucson and the Sportage got the same engine.
the only problem that i encounter with tucson and sportage CRDi engines is that it has no VGT which makes it somehow slow (not really slow) but somewhat, mas mahina compared sa Hyundai Sta.Fe, even if yung displacements ng engine between the two is dalawa lang ata. 2.2 > 2.0 CRdi engines. may VGT kasi sa Sta.Fe
I agree with the post above, Tucson is way too common on the road. kahit saan ka pumunta, may tucson. either that would either be a CVVT or CRDi variant.0 -
hi niel,
i heard from a friend na ung sportage daw ay hindi daw ganun ka fuel efficient and mag ibang tunog daw sa engine niya totoo ba? im really considering getting the sportage because of their trade in deals so i would appreciate if you could give me more information. thanks.0 -

i don't know what else to tell you about the sportage's fuel efficiency since i already gave quite a lengthy explanation of our experience with its crdi engine, mark. all i know is, shifting from a gas suv to a crdi suv meant an instant 50%+ savings (which, although logical, was still a pleasant surprise for us). since you are likely going through the same transition from your current gas escape, you are to expect a similar happy experience.
on the aspect of engine sound, of course diesel engines are louder by definition. that is expected.
my only qualms about our sportage 4x4 crdi : no air bags.0 -
the tucson 4x4 crdi got dual airbags..
kahit sa drivers side sir neil, walang airbag??0 -
yes, sadly, walang air bags even sa driver side, let'srocknroll.0

ah okay. pero, the 08 sportage is much more expensive pala sa tucson. yung price po ng sportage is at 1.3M++ na eh.. compared sa Tucson na 1.225++... maganda talaga porma ng sportage compared sa tucson na malamya and walang kabuhay buhay hehe
anyway, Thanks po Sir.;)0
