1.5M and 1.68M...

i'd say we have a srs fortunner/ alterra contender here, gais.
of all the suv'd pickups we have, hands down this one looks the most 'non dated'.

  • i like this one. dad's planning to trade-in his montero sport for the newer model... pero we'll see, test drive muna :D

mukhang unti-unting bumabalik ang mitsu ah *okay*
  • ^ the old montero sport's made in japan, i believe.

this one's gonna be made in thailand. your dad's older montero should have a better build quality than this one.

this one's made cheaper so to be able to compete with the fortunners lang. so if your dad already have the old model, stick with it. you will be trading down if you buy the newer model.
  • ^ ah i see... i'll let him know :D

maybe i'll just talk him into buying a pick-up then lol
  • the front looks identical with the outlander. i wonder what the strategy is behind this. don't car owners want their vehicles to look distinct from other models even if the latter are made by the same manufacturing firm?

i noticed the same with mazda 3 and mazda 6 (predecessor variant). sometimes on the road, i would mistake the 6 for a 3. if i owned a mazda 6 (in which case I paid substantially higher compared to a mazda 3), i wouldn't like the feeling. besides, the 6 is supposed to be a larger compact sedan. but the design betrays the realities.

diba yung outlander, based din sa platform ng Mitsu GT-A, MX and GT models?tama ba?

yung grill niya parang medyo based sa strada.
ayoko ko yung tail lights niya sa likod. parang napakasimple. hindi man lamang ginawang LED....

I would rather choose the Mitsu Strada GLS Sport 4x4 A/T over this one.;)

with that way of thinking.. what about the Benzes and the Bimmers and the Audis. we all know that front end wise they all look extremely similar with each other. diba?

a pick up can't fit 5 people comfortably, though. ?
  • to me, the mbs and bmws models weren't THAT similar with their respective preceding models. notwithstanding all bmws have that double rectangular emblem in front at the center of the grill.

it never occured to me at all for these high end brands. so i guess they were not THAT similar, if ever.
  • nope. you just didnt notice that because you don't see them everyday.

but see them linedup in the show room, and they pretty much have the same front end.

idunno.. the front end between a4 and a6 looks terribly similar to me. ?
  • maybe you're right. and with high end vehicles, there's that inherent respect and awe one voluntarily has for these brands so that such similarities can be easily overlooked.

still, i have to say that one look at the front end of that mitsu montero reminded me of the outlander. in the same way that whenever i see an oncoming strada on the road, i can't conclude yet if it is a strada or an outlander until i see its side.

i guess its economics that keep the company from coming out with too varied individual designs for their various vehicle makes. too bad. if i were a car designer, i'd probably love to make as many distinct designs for the various categories.
  • well this one looks like a strada turned into an SUV. it's similar to what toyota did with the hilux, they turned it into the fortuner, i think. what i want to see is the nissan navarra, turned into an SUV. it would look like a smaller brother of the patrol.

and also car manufacturers don't veer away from their distinct styling, like how you can easily tell if it's BMW, Audi or a Mercedes.

question: i think the platform of these pick-ups turned into an SUV is dissapointing, specially the third row seats, why can't they level the third row seating with the rest of the car? like what you would have in chevy suburban.

really? well, congested nga naman sa rear seats ng pickup

but still, it is a pick up, mas malaki, mas better.

i agree with abscbn. strada turned into a SUV :hmm:
  • ^i think i made it clear.

    it's mitsubishi's answer to the fortunner/ everest/ alterra.

and it's a very welcome addition to the already dated lot, imo.
  • from the pictures, it looks so much like the fuzion. hope it wouldn't be as apparent when i see one in the streets.
  • too much critic. I love this one, and i'm planning to buy 2 units.
  • i still doubt the reliability of this car. Need to wait for a few months muna for reviews. Hehe mukhang ok naman yung design pero if I were to choose i'd just get a RAV4 tutal almost the same price na rin naman. Hehe its like a poor man's pajero :)
  • Damn, I've seen this on the road. I thought it was Outlander.

with its price, i don't think you can be regarded as poor with the substantial amount that you'll be shelling out. it's more of an entry level to a pajero.

yeah sa totoo lang mahal na rin nya, sobra! Pero considering for a pajero you can almost get two of these, para siyang pajero's little brother
  • it's the same price point as a Fortunner.
people seemed to have no problem buying fortunners.

also, the fortunner's going to have a price increase the coming few months. what with the 'facelift' version coming out
  • may pajero 2007-2008 ba sa Pinas?
