Ford Escape 2.3L XLS 4x2 or Hyundai Tucson 4x2 CRDi? — PinoyExchange

Ford Escape 2.3L XLS 4x2 or Hyundai Tucson 4x2 CRDi?

Hi
I'm choosing between Ford Escape (A/T) and Hyundai Tucson (A/T)for a new SUV. Appreciate your inputs to help me decide. What is the fuel consumption rate for each? What are the pros and cons for each?

Thanks!

CRV ayaw mo? Eh kung wala namang fuel consideration I think its the most comfortable and fun to drive in its class...
  • Budget is 1.1M max na eh...

Btw, I edited my post na... Would like to know na rin how fuel efficient both vehicles are... Thanks in advance.

my current ave consumption on the 2.3 XLS (current model) is 11.5 kms/liter using E10 fuel. my daily drive is mostly highway though.

on city drives, i get at least 9.5 kms to the liter.

Go get the Hyundai Tucson 4x2 CRDi Unit. My mom bought a Hyundai Tucson CRDi 4x4 and its great! walang sisi so far. I believe that the 4x4 and 4x2 variants of the Hyundai Tucson CRDi have the same engine. The only difference between the two is that the former have this ESP? and 4WD lock. 4x4 variants also got two SRS airbags unlike those sa 4x2. pero sa tingin ko, parehas na parehas lang ang dalawang iyan. *okay* no difference at all in terms of interior, exterior and of course the 2.0 CRDi engine ;)

Actually, I already made a thread regarding this matter when my mom was still in the stage of dilemma which to choose among the Kia Sportage 4x4, Hyundai Tucson 4x4 and the Ford escape respectively

Our Tucson FC right now improved a lot, from 7 to 8 km/L dati, now it ranges from 9 to 11 km/L for City driving, then 12 to 14Km/L for highway; I’m not quite sure though for the highway FC. btw, she's using petron diesel max.

    Just my two cents.

btw,if you will be getting the ford escape; if i were you, just wait for the USDM 2008/2009 version of Ford Escape coming out this 4th qtr. of this year or baka 1st to 2nd quarter next year. (can somebody confirm this?) ;)

PS: sana maglagay ang Hyundai ng VGT sa tucson. then its going to be perfect. sayang wala eh. :( that is the weakness of CRDi tucsons, lack of power. 112 Ps lang :bop:

    :)

thanks. what's with the USDM 2008/2009 version? how different is it from the current model?

the 2008/2009 have an all-new look (exterior and interior) and both have more standard features. the 2008 USDM though still carries the same engine (2.3L) plus loses a little more hp (i think 153 from 157 of the current model here) because of the heavier weight. the 2009 USDM on the other hand gets an engine upgrade (2.5L, 170hp, more fuel efficient) and a few more features.

ok naman yung bagong escape ah? 2007 pa lumabas yan di ba?

in my opinion, the 2008 USDM escape isn't really "that new" in terms of design compared to some of its competitions pero astig pa rin itsura. kung ako papipiliin between escape & tucson, escape na (current model man or yung bago).

PERO, i think you're gonna have a problem if hihintayin mo pa yung 2008 USDM escape kasi i think the base price is more than 1.1m? i'm not sure though but i'm thinking it is.. hmmm pero baka hindi rin... haha labo... kasi sa US $19,000+ yung base price eh..
  • Thanks! I am actually leaning towards Ford Escape due to its better appearance. I heard though from owners of older Escape models that the interiors are quite flimsy, i.e. buttons easily broken etc. Is this still true to the current model?

bakit ayaw mo sir i try yung Kia Sportage.

grrrr kailan kaya ilalabas yung bagong escape..
  • Yup... the Ford Escape just got a facelift... was surprised by this actually.

It looks quite nice actually... the interior was also slightly revised.

Between the two, I'll go for the Escape for its looks and kit, despite the overall higher fuel expense.

... still love ford and the escape though :D

  • Actually, I'm now considering other options also:

    Mazda Tribute 4x2 A/T
    Nissan X-trail 4x2 A/T

Appreciate your inputs on these also. Thanks!

Im just wondering bakit Tucson pa ang nacompare mo sa escape instead of CRV, Rav4, Xtierra, Ford Edge, GMC Terrain, Captiva..

actually same ang concerns natin..:confused:we cnt decide between cr-v, xtrail, tribute & now escape..me promo daw kasi ang escape na P999k all in na.. but my daughter & i really love the interior/exterior of tribute (2 nga lang ang color choice, medyo limited)..

    question..

Not really CRV sucks when it comes to off road plus its too slow to accelerate and consume plenty of fuel.

    Consider these following csuv

    new suzuki vitara

    Jeep patriot

Nissan x trail (which I own)
