chop-chop/shop(s)?

my car's pretty new (2006 civic) pero naacidente and with the cost of paying for a new door, paint job etc PLUS gas costing an arm and a limb, im thinking of just selling the car, kasi it ends up na lugi pa ako kapag pinaayos ko. malapit pa naman ako sa trabaho ko and may auto naman tropa ko kapat gusto namin lumabas.

thanks

  • Bakit magiging illegal, eh kotse mo naman yan. You can do what you want with it. Wala ba yan insurance?
  • wala po eh sir. tska willing na din ako to go commute, i live very near the mrt and in the long run, mas tipid din ako. re:legality, kasi dati nagtatanong ako meron nagsasabi na illegal daw...

  • Yup, planning to get rid of the entire thing. As noted, having a car ends up being more expensive than commuting, and commuting isn't a problem for me, given my location.

And yup, auto ko. Ano requirements nila? How will they know the difference if its mine or stolen?
  • Akala ko pinto lang ang sira? Kasi bakit mo ipapakatay. Best bet is inquiring at junk shops.
  • well, first it is not clear to what extent the damage to your car is.

But if it's a total wreck, there's no problem selling your parts. Legally it is all yours.

Better if you can sell it at car groups. hondaclub.com.ph is one and pretty sure dami cho-chop chop ng auto mo dun...
  • instead of fixing it and spending more money, idadala ko nalang sa chop shop and get money out of it. yup, door lang ang sira. magkano ba makukuha ko if ipa chop ko? from what i heard kasi chop shops break down the cars and sell it piece by piece...diba? so they don't look at how many miles (dami na kasi eh, akyat-baba baguio), they look at the condition of the car. ung car ko...has 3 good doors heheheh

  • the damage to the car is that the passenger door is screwed over. nasa binondo ako and when I stopped and my friend was about to get out of the car, binuksan nya and may nakamotorcycle which hit the door and the door came flying off.
  • I think you can get a car door for less than P7,000. Pakundisiyon mo na lang. Mileage? Unless pinabayaan mo talaga, which is my guess. Kasi parang non-chalant ka about the car. napaka-minor ng sira niyan at napakadaling ayusin kung pinto lang.
  • Yeah, that and my mind's really set on it na talaga. Gas prices, parking prices, always thinking if my car's been napped etc.
  • Sorry, but from your story I am quite uneasy.

    Anyway, that's just me.

If you really want to sell it in pcs then by all means sell it at junk shops. But I assure you you'll get more from either selling it as is (given you got the papers) or you chop it yourself like selling the console, seats, steering wheel, rims, tyres etc that giving it at chop chop shops.

I gotta apologize, but from the way you explained it, no one in their right mind would be selling a car with just 1 broken door to a chop chop shop unless its stolen.
  • It's fine, this is the internet. I know I don't trust half of what the people on here say, but as i said, not having a car has its perks.

I've tried selling it, but yeah, too many miles, ugly interiors (ive got dogs), not to mention the screwed up door. If anyone here's interested in it, PM me.

Tried going on the hondaphil site, and it doesn't allow new registrations.

^try posting your ad at tsikot.com

btw, what do you mean by hcp doesn't allow new registrants? i post regularly there & by the looks of it, there are a lot of new posters over there by the day although they're subject to some posting limitations afaik

Just sell your car for cash to a Buy and Sell person; sila na bahala to fix the car. Don't expect a high price though but at least you get rid of it in an easy way.

There's really a lot of value in getting insurance. It may be heavy on the budget but the peace of mind and convenience really pays off.
  • So what exactly are the damages and why had you thought of selling it in pieces rather than as a whole? Like I said, selling it as a whole would most likely give you a better price than selling it in pieces.

But if you are insistent, send me a PM and I can help you sell it piece by piece. But you gotta show me the papers of course before we sell it.

If it's just body damage and no damage to the chasis or engine, fix it than selling it. If money is an issue, store it then save up for the cost of repairs.

Dont sell a wrecked or damaged car. If you still decide to get rid of it, consider parting out the parts. You'll be better off getting more money from parts (piece by piece) than selling a whole wrecked or damaged car.

That's the worst piece of advice I've ever heard.
