Electric motorcycles in the Philippines?

My God I want one!

http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/508874/Electric+Motorcycles+by+E-Motion+(Excellent+Designs,+Practical+and+HIgh+Quality)

Not only are they priced the same like your ordinary gasoline motorcycles, they are cheaper (due to less maintenance costs and gasoline costs), cleaner, noiseless and generally just plain cool to drive on!

I'm literally orgasming myself right now!! No more expensive gasoline liters for me to use right now..thank God!

  • senseless.

Motorcycles are cheaper as it is now.

I would rather spend on an electric car that can carry me and whatever I have with me than ride an electric bike.

Simply, if you cannot afford the gas today on your low-consuming bikes, then how can you afford maintaining it?

Dude, it's you who's not making any sense..

You're not getting it now are you? As a working student, I feel the effects of the rising gas prices every now and then everytime I drive around school and get to work and as soon as I use those damn gasoline type vehicles every now and then. Fact is a 62 peso liter I put on my motorcycle engine lasts only 2 days while commuting only in jeepneys costs me 24 pesos in just 2 days. There's a big difference there, fact is I chose the latter and even rarely use my gasoline type motorcycle anymore because of the huge expense involved on my part (working student lang poh ako). My motorcycle just became a dead investment for me. It's practically useless because of the huge variable costs (gasoline expenses, maintenance, etc.) involved. My motorcycle practically eats up 3/4 my total income!

Electric motorcycles eliminate all this! You know why? Because they are astoundly cheaper. They use electricity as compared to those expensive premium and unleaded gasolines and the total electricity costs amount to only 25% of the variable costs as compared to using pure gasolines alone. Not to mention no maintenance costs and are they not only quiet, but they are CLEAN as well and gives ZERO emissions! In an era where the future of this planet is a grave concern it certainly makes a difference using not only "green" technologies but it's CHEAP as well. It's just common sense, and my choice for using electric motorcycles is purely grounded on economic reasons.

So unless you know what you're talking about, kindly just STFU and stop being a troll..

It should be a great idea but you have to take into consideration that these scooters are made in China.

Given that, you then have to consider these variables:

    - parts. Where do you buy parts should they break or get worn? The dealer? Don't count on it.

    - service. Pretty much like parts. You're stuck with the dealer's mechanic.

    - stats. If you're able to live with these stats I'd say go for it:

    Motor Type: Brushless DC *okay*
    Rated Output Power: 1500W
    Battery Type: Silicon Gel
    Brakes- Front: Drum or Disk
    Brakes- Rear: Drum
    Charging time: 3-5 hours :ayaw:
    Charge Input Voltage: 110V/220V
    Climbing Capacity: 25 degrees :ayaw:
Driving Distance: +100km (Fully Charged) *okay*
    Loading Capacity:120kg
    Speed: 55-65kph :ayaw:
    Tire Size: 3.00x10”

Eto na lang hintayin mo na electric motorcycle:

You call me senseless when you actually said and admitted that it is cheaper for you to just commute.

No! an electric motorcycle isn't coming out cheaper in maintenance as well. Plus check out the price of the bike geez!

Yes, you are a working student and so? I was one as well so you STFU about it. I've been there... and know how it feels. But you got to face reality and the fact of life. Plus, do you have good facts to back up this electric thing will last and would be a good investment?

What am I saying here. Instead of spending your hard earned money that consumed blood, sweat and tears from everyday work on something that doesn't have anything to back it up yet better save it and sacrifice until you get out of where you are right now.

Let those who have the extra money test it for you. geez kids nowadays, all they want is convenience at once.

Electric motorcycles still have a long way to go.

Dito sa Pinas, parts and service na lang, mamomroblema ka na.

And with such a slow top speed, it might just be good for village riding.

And Aranda's right to point out that it's made in China. Most gasoline motorcycles from that part of the globe are still going through hard times. Unless you have the means and know how to maintain a China made electric motorcycle, you might just want to wait a bit more.

If an electric bike was made by honda or piaggio id buy. i always say no to made in china vehicles. im not being discriminative because im chinese to begin with.

that electric bike would be a bad investment judging from it's price, speed and charging time.

Well I am also a student.. my income is less than PHP1000 a week. I rode a gas guzzling CB400 for a few months, had to give it up because of the gas prices. Im currently riding a fuel inefficient sym jet at the moment while my vespa is getting fixed.

I currently spend about P400-700 a week on gas.

sniper what kind is your motorcycle? if you don't mind me asking

    Yamaha Sniper, perhaps?

About fuel efficiency, I'd rather ride my bike than drive the car. Sa kotse, 500 a day. Sa 2 stroke 90ccc scooter, 130 a day. Sa 50cc scooter 60 a day. Mas tipid nang di hamak yung mga 4 stroke moped.

And for some people, it's not just the economics that move them to ride bikes than drive cars.

Electric motorcycle for one, does not involve many parts as it does not need to shift gears. Remember, electric motors has full torque at 0 kph, so gears will be of no use. Acceleration is fast and torqy. I have one here that can be easily folded into my car. Top speed is a pathetic 22 kph, but it does move you around in the village. Usage is around 45 minutes before it runs flat.

Pros: No pollution. No gas. No noise. Less maintainance, if at all.
Cons: Short Range. Overheating. Charging time. Electrical parts and motor not water proof, so water can get in and damage the circuitry overtime. Battery life will be shortened if under heavy loads and motor can overheat.
  • I found a better and cooler looking electric motorcycle:

And you're complaining about gas?!?!?! What's up with you boy? I used to ride a CB400 my full tank cost arround PHP 900+ and yours would cost arround P300 tops. You consume less than half of my consumption and you're complaining? My word.

Dude you're an idiot. I'm not complaining, I have a Honda XRM and although it is more fuel efficient than most motorcycles out there I only make P2,500 a MONTH (in case you didn't read working student lang poh ako)! That means I have to at least spend around P1500+ on gasoline expenditure per month alone (there goes half of my money) and not to mention there are my school expenses to begin with. Oh yeah and STFU boy because I don't care if you're rich, I want affordability given my situation.

    Motor: Etek-RT
    Peak Power: 19 HP
    Battery Capacity: 3.3 kWh
Top Speed: 60-70 mph/120-150kmh (Gearing Adjustable)
    Range: 35 / 60 miles (Power / Economy)
    Brakes: Dual Hydraulic Disk

That's awesome dude! I'm actually an enthusiasts on this and thinking of purchasing one. As long as it looks cool, safe, and gives an awesome performance, I'd be happy to ride one.

However, when it comes to bikes, I think I prefer the slower ones at 60Kph for the meantime. Yours is way too fast for safety.

Your model is chain driven and has gearings. Wouldn't this add more weight to the bike?

Anyway, do you need to register this at the LTO and a license? Or is it categorize as a motorize bicycle?

    Thanks.
  • To the TS,

You seriously considering an electric bike made in China?

Not all made in China products are lousy. Your computer parts, AVR, speakers, keyboard, etc. are all made in China. These factories ships all the way to Europe and USA which has strict quality guidelines. They are a lots of factories in China which has ISO9001 certification.

But, if you want a cheaper one, there are hundreds of factories which will manufacture cheaper parts without any quality standards. These are the one you can find in divisoria. lol
