HELP! UPLB or DLSU?
guys please help me, i can't decide.
ok here's the story. i didn't pass the UPCAT and i wasn't able to take the entrance exams in DLSU. i'll be studying first in Centro Escolar University (makati branch) and i'm planning to transfer after 1sem or 1year. i'm choosing between these two universities.
i cried a lot during my enrollment in CEU :bashful: because i really wanted to study in dlsu. but my aunt said, if i would transfer, i should choose uplb because it's academically better than la salle. no offense; she's a up graduate. anyway, i want to enjoy my college life, hindi kasi ako masydong masaya nung high school... and i think... well para sakin, parang masaya ang buhay sa la salle...
please help me naman po... my course by the way is MassCom and if ever i got the chance and if ever i decided to study in uplb i would shift to CommArts. i'm so confused!!! :mecry:

UPLB is an agriculture school. anu yan, balak mo bang mag-araro ng bukid and magdala ng kalabaw?
ahaahha. wrong reasoning ang aunt mo. sana naman may logic sinabi niya. this is the reason why napapalibutan na ng kaguluhan ang ating bansa dahil sa mga UP grads na mali-mali ang pagpapatakbo sa ating bansa. and for UPLB grads, wala pang nakapagpaimpress sa akin. UPD or UPM meron na. sila pa lang.
Suggest ko talaga magtransfer out ka after a year or so. Im from la salle and i can tell that ateneo has a better com arts curriculum
btw, proud fighting maroon po ako.(from UPD)
'nag-UP ka pa kung UPLB lang' is something I will expect to hear from a no-brainer.
you do not know what're the reasons behind the lower UPG cut-off of UPLB so I guess, you do not have the right to speak ill of it.
Besides, di lang ang UPLB ang naglower ng cut-off, even the others.
Being an agricultural school is something the whole UPLB community is so proud of. Do you really know what agriculture is? kasi, you, saying plainly that agriculture is about pag-aararo ng bukid and pagdadala ng kalabaw is funny. Mas wala kang logic. It is a four-year course tas yon lang sa tingin mo ang matututunan mo? Scientific agriculture to pare.
if you think UP is between UPM and UPD only, then you are not thinking.
'nag-UP ka pa kung UPLB lang' >>ganyan din dati akala ko but you'll feel different if you're actually from UP.
Anyway, on topic, considering the course, DLSU na lang. Pero it'll all depends on your lifestyle. Ako mas pipiliin ko UPLB eh.
Anyway, for the question of the thread starter, you need to obtain first high grades from CEU. Sa DLSU, dapat wala kang bagsak at at least 85% ang over-all average mo from your previous school. Ganyan din sa UP (kahit anong unit pa). Both schools have a tough admission system kahit sa transferee.
Anyway galingan mo sobra sa CEU kasi kuripot magaccept ng transferees ang DLSU and expect to start again from square 1 when you enter DLSU. Alam mo naman la salle kurakot di sila masyado nagccredit ng subject lalo na majors from other universities para mapaenroll ka ulit.
my bro planned to transfer to UST.. sa CEU makati din sya ngayon..
the problem is that IF you really are planning to transfer, kelangan prepared ka sa mga requirements..
academic institutions have the tendency to delay your plans. kaya ihanda mo na dapat ang Form-137 mo from your HS dahil yan ang madalas hanapin. Then you must be able to apply for transfer a week or two bago matapos ang school year para makapagtanong ka na rin sa registrar ng tamang procedures. and make sure na kumpleto ka sa requirements sa CEU (like birth certificate, etc..) bago ka mag-apply for transfer
UPLB has the edge on agricultural and horticultural studies. magaling din naman kahit paano ang campus na yun sa Social sciences.
but if your planning to pursue CommArts, i would recommend schools at the metro, like DLSU or UP-Diliman. marami din schools sa metro manila na magagaling ang CommArts, like CSB, Letran, UST, or PLM.
academically wise, mahusay nga ang UPLB, pero when it comes to surviving sa field after you finished your degree sa CommArts, for instance, mas pipiliin mo ang DLSU or UP-D and other colleges or universities sa metro manila area.
my two cents worth;)
but if you decide to study in elbi, di ka pa rin madedehado. acedemically competitive, environment's good, para lang isang malaking community. dapat diliman ako, pumasa naman ako sa course na in-apply-an ko. but unfortunately, ayaw ng parents ko na sa manila ako mag-aral so they opted to send me to elbi. and yes, i had a blast. wala akong pinagsisisihan sa pag-aaral ko dun. dito ko sa elbi na-meet ang mga importanteng tao sa buhay ko ngayon. may hirap, sarap, saya, lungkot pero lahat yun, worth the experience.
OBVIOUS BA?! I passed UP-Diliman, Political Science. I chose La Salle for my undergrad kasi accounting yung course na pinili ko. Right now, I'm attending UP-Law!
Pilipino b ung salitang un??? or bka nmn tga ibang bansa un...bt nweiz..........sa UP diliman college of law k n pla??? so magi2ng abogado k pla one day???? tpos gnun ang tawag mo sa isang skul??? patay tyo dyn...kung gnyang din nmn mgiging abogado ng isang bansa..eh dpt wag k n dito...kawaw lng mgiging kliyente mo..hehehe...un lng....just a comment for your stupidity!
di po ako taga UPLB, pero aminado ako na maganda ang campus nila kung pagbabasehan mo ung overall. its peaceful there. u can relax while you study. the air there is always fresh. and dun pinakamasarap ung choco milk na binebenta nila. aminado din naman ako na madali sa UPLB compared sa UPD or UPM. kaya ganun un kasi di sila one of the satellite universities na maraming course na pagpipilian. un lang. hehe
@OP/TS: La Salle ka na. i mean...if La Salle ang gusto mo why not? your aunt must be really loyal to UP. don't take the word of your aunt for it. you are studying for yourself, not for your parents or anyone else. this is your future you're building. might as well make the most of it.
Hello??D namn sa cut-off nagkakatalo un eh..so ano kung mababa ung cut-off. queber.
:rotflmao:
DLSU is private, exclusive, has an "affluent" ambience in a literal sense and probably has a laxer academic approach. UPLB, on the other hand, is open and liberal, but it's education is more demanding and probably twice as more cutthroat as DLSU's.
I would go for DLSU in heartbeat because I like its "private-like" environment than UPLB's open environment.
If you're confronted with the same problem, i'd say choose the school based on fit. You might like one and hate the other.
para dun sa author, kung medyo marami ka pang time at pera try mo sa dalawang campus (kung makakapasok ka sa LB) and see the difference! hahaha...
No joke, your Math11 course is the same course where other Sciences/Math majors jump start.
Hehe
