Banawe... the lentry level Pioneers with aux in go for roughly 5K to 6K. Just go around the shops and scout for the best deal (i usually go to either Ginza or Autospecs).
  • would it be brand new sa banawe area? how about sa malls? masyado ba malaki price diff?

If all you need is a 3.5mm aux-in jack for any external source, an entry-level Pioneer or Sony Xplod HU will suffice.

The cheapest Xplod, the CDX-GT161S, goes for PhP3999. Trade up to the CDX-GT262S to add MP3 playback from CDs, and it'll cost PhP5199.

You can also try Autoline in Makati, Mickey's Auto Sound in Pasig, or Goldrich in Banawe (they have a socking big Xplod insignia in front).

I'm no audiophile so what I did was just buy an FM modulator from CDR King. It plugs into the lighter socket.

Now I can play both the iPod and music stored in my flashdisk through the car speakers.

    The modulator costs Php750.00.

I'd have posted a photo but the CDRking website seems to be down. It looks like a cellular phone charger with a USB slot instead of a long cable. To use with an iPod, a cable is included which inserts into the iPod's headphone jack.

I had one of those FM transmitters too, bought from Electronics Boutique for PhP1000.

It works, but not without caveats. The major drawback is how the sound cracks up when you go past a certain volume...which isn't that high, really. Not recommended for people who play their music loud or the audiophiles among us.

Yep, that's why I said I was not an audiophile.

Besides, I can always burn a CD for the music I really want. But for 'current hits' or top20 music, the flashdisk works. I can also use it on any vehicle I use as long as there is a head unit and power outlet.

The unit I got remembers the last track where you stopped so you don't keep on going back to track one everytime you turn it on. :)

Mine looks the same but is colored black and doesn't have a remote.
  • wow that's cool. I actually have an fm transmitter already however my car's fm mode has a problem... it gets am frequency! the cd changer works fine though.

If you have a CD changer and arent using it anymore, there are aux-in cables for the Ipod (specifically the mainstream brands like Pioneer, Clarion, Alpine, etc.). These cost around 2K i think so you may want to just get a new entry-level HU.
