Depends on what your tastes are... with the old cars, i prefer the Benzes (always been in search for a nice, fairly priced 124 body 300TD station wagon).

BMW's usually have the better driving feel for those who enjoy driving... I havent driven a new Benz so i have no idea on how they "feel". :P

But if i had the moolah for a new German car, i might spring for an Audi. :)
  • I'm an audi man myself.

pero over bmw or benz... i'd go for bmw. those teh S class Benz is better than 7 series bmw, imo.
  • Benz. It seems to exude wisdom and reverence. A BM, otoh, draws awe and suspicion. Personal thought ko lang po.
  • Benz... Classy ang dating!
  • Mercedes-Benz for me :)

    W123: 240D, 300D Turbo Diesel, 230E, 280E
    W124: 300E, 400E, 500E
    W126: 280SE, 420SEL, 560SEL
    W116: 450SEL 6.9
    W140: 600SEL
    W220: S65 AMG
    G55 AMG

    The list goes on...:)
  • I've test driven a BMW 330 and my sis has a MB C230. For me, there's no comparison, the bimmer is the better car. If you like driving then its the bimmer, if you like being driven to places then MB.
  • I prefer bmw to Mercedes , Mercedes caters to the established bored rich BMW now that something else if I had lots of money I’d get BMW car BMW four by four BMW everything BMW the image is that is you know it cost a lot of money but the image BMW is young and professional, it’s for the person who prefer an active lifestlye . Even when I'm in the street BMW it's a head turner for me BMW it's the car that I like. I have this feeling about BMW you know it's expensive but the image isn't intimidating it's still approachable for the masses.

If I were restricted to those two, I'd take BMW over Benzes by a hair.

However there are a lot of silly things happening in Munich's "ultimate driving machines" that I don't really agree with, such as iDrive, Active Steering and that dumb electric A/T shifter from the new X5.

While Stuttgart has shown it can make proper driver's cars, those that qualify as such are usually too expensive (SLK/CLK AMG Black Series anyone?).

I'd probably take an Audi. The new TT and A3 are quite awesome as daily drivers, and they're finally getting better at making their cars fun to drive.
  • oo nga. bakit di kasama ang Audi.

Di kasi kilala ang Audi dito eh.

People will mistake an Audi A6 worth PhP5 million for a humble Toyota.

    No joke.
  • without a shadow of a doubt MERC! 1st. the history of car maker. 2. quality of the automibile 3. class 4. design classic 5. performance and the list goes on. some argue bmw bcoz of its performance, try driving the the new c class and tell me what you think of it. also my family had an M3 before a very good car but good thing i crashed it. also mercs dont change bodies overnight unlike bmw, "ano bago nanaman and body". A BMW and a MERC is like a choice between a clod beer which is a bmw will give you the immediate satisfaction but you have to drink it fast coz it wont be cool for long or the merc a single malt whisky a bit pricey but drink it slow enjoy life to the last drop.
  • "also mercs dont change bodies overnight unlike bmw, "ano bago nanaman and body""

    are you on crack?

the BMW sedans follow the standard 6 years car's life span. how much longer can you want? anythng longer, and it will just plain look dated.

This is funny and I really have to disagree with this view.

It's only recently that BMWs adopted a radically new body style, thanks to Chris Bangle and Adrian von Hooydonk starting with the 7-series in 2001.

Before that, BMW styling was adored but also largely made fun of because it took AGES to change. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s there weren't too many changes to the 3-, 5-, and 7-series...just a little tweak here and there every 6-7 years. One of the favorite BMW jokes is that the 3, 5 and 7-series are just small, medium and large sizes of the same car.

A lot of carmakers conveniently copied elements of BMW's designs, Toyota/Lexus most blatantly. And who wouldn't? If you're going to copy from someone you might as well copy from a carmaker with a bulletproof image.

Even Bangle's first BMW design, the original X5 of 1998, borrowed heavily from the 5-series. Compare a 1989 5-series to a 2002 model and you'd be hard-pressed to see any differences apart from the cosmetic (light clusters and such).
  • BMW - sporty luxury car
Mercedes Benz - luxury sports car

That's how I've always viewed them

I prefer Mercedes Benz CLK Avantgarde for obvious reasons.:)
