  • As in galit na yung makina, mahina pa rin? Clutch-slipping? Try this, while running, step on the clutch, and release, if the car does not respond, clutch lining is worn out. But do that on an open, straight road.

Start first with the basics, change oil, and tune-up (check ignition timing, tappet adjustments, and spark plugs). Change your filters (air and fuel) if this has not been done.

When you floor the gas, does the a/t tranny downshift? Did you notice and erratic shift patterns? you may also want to check/change the tranny fluid if it had not been done.

What car do you have BTW? Gas? diesel?

there'd be some days when it'd run normally but i've noticed that most of the time, hirap talagang mag-accelerate. i just had my car tuned-up..it did improve for a while pero bumalik na naman. haven't replaced the transmission fluid though. i'm not really familiar with downshifts and erratic shift pattern since i'm one of those who just drive...sowi hehe. my car's a 1999 toyota corolla 1.6 gli, btw. thanks, guys!

How beat is your engine? I think its time for an engine overhaul if not an engine swap 4AGZE... FTW!!!

The logical next step would be replace the transmission fluid and see if there's any improvement.

Since the tune-up was done recently, I think we can rule out any engine hiccups...or at least put them on the back burner for now while we take a look at the transmission.

Personally I really think it's got something to do with your gearbox. My two cents.

If that's the case, i'd look at two things: engine condition (sensor problems or loose compression) and the tranny. Try to have a shop with a diagnostic equipt. do a engine readout, compression test and change the tranny fluid at least. If it ran ok for a while after the tune-up, it may point at engine problems.

Do keep us posted on your car's diagnosis. I'm sure there are a number of us who'd love to know what went wrong so we could use your incident as future reference. :)
