MANILA, Philippines — The results of the June 2007 nursing licensure examinations will be released in August, or a month later than the results of past tests have been, a member of the Board of Nursing (BoN) said Friday.

“The release of the June 2007 nursing licensure examination results will be out by August 15 or 17 up to 31 at the Professional Regulation Commission office in Manila,” Marco Sto. Tomas of the BoN, which prepares and oversees the entire exam process, said.

He explained that the month’s delay is primarily due to the volume of examinees this year.

Some 78,000 nursing graduates took the June 10 and 11 exams, almost double the usual 40,000 examinees. Among them were some 13,000 passers of the June 2006 exam who retook tests 3 and 5 again on the recommendation of the United States Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).

The June 2006 nursing board exam was marred by the leak of test questions to some review centers. This controversy spurred congressional and criminal investigations, court cases, the replacement of the BoN members, and even a visit of CGFNS lawyers to observe this year’s board exam, as well as the preparations for it.

Sto. Tomas said the PRC’s three optical machine readers, which can read and correct only 10,000 test papers a day, will take longer to come with the scores.

“We hope and pray that none will conk out [during the correction],” he said.

After the scores are known, the test papers will have to be matched to the examinees because “the test papers do not contain the names of the examinees, just their assigned numbers,” Sto. Tomas explained.

Then, the BoN will have to establish the mean passing score, which is computed from the highest and lowest scores.

Sto. Tomas said the BoN members will again go into isolation once the test papers are being corrected. At the moment, they are still preparing the answers.

He said this second period of isolation is to prevent the possibility of any of them being influenced to change the results of the exam in favor of selected examinees.

The BoN went incommunicado during the printing of the test questions, to dispel any suspicion they might leak out the test questions.

“Everything is being done to restore the integrity of the Philippine nursing licensure examinations. This exam is not the work of any one member of the board, but all of the board,” he said.

  • canary0909

well, any review center will do...but for the choices, pentagon is better, if I may say. Pero ikaw parin naman ang masusunod diba?..

That leakage issue is a "duh" thing to all of us in nursing profession.

hmm...sa school nyo ba yan na review center?..kung sa school nga, well, di pala pede i-endorse ang UST review Center for nurses like PRS http://www.prsfornurses.com/ mostly from USt ang prof dian...

    sana naman nakatulong ako..:D

God bless you on your endeavor!

To all nurses out there: "Protect your license"
  • ^^thank you :D

but I'd rather risk my license to teach novice...:rotflmao:

    joke..:D
  • canary0909 honestly, I am afraid to give an opinion regarding sa review center na papasokan mo...baka kc..ahihi...

pero, (ito na naman ako) for me lang ha, self review is better lalo na if you have a good reading comprehension and final couching will do...mag paturo lang kung panu mag shade ng sagot..ahahha...:D

hay, sana kasi school na lang ang mag decide he he he he

    thanks a lot po
  • canary0909, huwag naman ms..ahihi..napaka formal naman..ahaha..nahihiya naman ako:bashful:

there's no problem naman when it comes to batch review. Pero siyempre, we cannot avoid those classmates that will invite you to do something na minsan sasabihin, "we need a break" especially, if you have same room na tutulogan....Tukso kumbaga. kaya, we have to know our limitations and kung when to do this things. maybe, sa review, I can say we have to be friendly yet selective..;)

dear, taga la salle-HSC din ako. Batch 2007, and I went to St. Louis. Some of my friends went to Pentagon, and they complained a lot regarding their schedule, usually the professors would come in as late as 10 AM, to think that their class should have started at 8 AM. And while our review classes were going on, yung mga taga ibang review centers would say na may specific questions and answers sila na lalabas sa board exam.

Nakakapagod, pero it was fun learning with St. Louis. Kung magi-in-house kayo, o kahit hindi, I definitely recommend St. Louis.

wow, kayo po yung sinundan namin. schoolmate! :bop: we're hoping for the best para sa labas ng result ng last boards he he he

thanks sa suggestion. hay, sana i extend pa yung deadline para sa vote he he lgi nga naming topic yang tungkol sa review center na yan eh. i just hope na kung ano man ang decision, buo pa rin ang batch he he he he

yung parang specific topics lang ang ididiscuss, ganon din yung inooffer na style ng gapuz eh, in fairness nag sample discussion and pentagon nakakaakit talaga.

    thanks a lot!

    hayyyyyy

That situation happened to me once when we had our affiliation. The place was very new to me and so with the staff, so, talagang with all the force ako mag-duty and with all the "para-para". But then, my duty mates were so lazy at that time because may case-pre daw sila yesterday and all those "blah-blah" that they gave to our C.I. and they need a break. Talagang, super sayang 'yong time at gusto kong sabihin "oi, kayo nalang mag-duty bukas kasi may case pre din ako" ..

But sometimes, majority of my hospital duties ay talagang nakakatamad (OR and DR if walang case) at nakaka pagod especially sa wards (OB in particular) lalo na 'yung monitoring. Grabeh!
  • ^^kaya lang naman ako excited mag duty kasi naisip ko sayang nga yung time kahit pa sabihing benign naman don sa ward na yun, 4th year na kasi eh ayoko namang maka graduate na parang hindi sapat yung alam he he he he tsaka may "manipulation" pa kasing nangyari na pag nahuli kami pede kaming bigyan ng incident report he he he he im hoping na sana wag na lang mahuli he he he he

favorite ko ang mag case pre, as in! sabi ko kasi chance na naming magpakitang gilas he he he mayabang kasi ako eh he he he, crative presentation talaga he he. actually wala naman akong pakielam sa grade ang gusto ko lang eh itayo ang bandera ng group namin he he he hindi nagpapatalo he he he tutal ipapahiya mo na rin lang ang sarili mo eh ipahiya mo na rin ng todo todo

hay, mga requirements he he he he ang thesis namin, sana matapos na he he he he

ah, yes the case presentation. Isa na rin yan sa paaraan kung paano magpakitang gilas to your fellows and to your clinical instructors. Lalo na if you have a good communication skills. Lalo na if na master mo 'yung CP mo. Bla-blah ka lang...

Ah, wala pa akong field of mastery. Kahit master's degree wala pa ako nun. PEro, may plans naman ako. Gusto ko yung Anesthetic Nursing..Wla lang:D
  • ^ah, konti lang po an nurse anesthetist dito sa tin. kala ko po nung una educator kayo he he he he
