JUST recently, ABS-CBN launched a wave of print advertisements and press releases claiming supremacy in nationwide audience share which has seen print in several newspapers. By towing the line on nationwide audience share, is the Kapamilya Network now playing up its viewership strength in Visayas and Mindanao to make up for its “sluggish” :rotflmao: [GALVANTENG GALVANTE TALAGA]performance in Mega Manila which is continously dominated by GMA7?

According to TNS Trends TV Household Establishment Survey, Mega Manila TV households comprise 51% of the Total Urban TV households in the country. Urban Luzon comprises 74% of the Total Urban Philippines TV households. Visayas and Mindanao Urban TV households share the remaining 26%.

In TNS Trends’ survey among the CDE households during the last quarter of 2006, GMA remains was the most regularly watched TV channel with 70% regular viewership of the Kapuso Channel on weekdays and 55% on weekends. The survey covered the combined areas of Mega Manila, Cebu, Iloilo and Davao.

GMA Network also got a 70% trust rating while its News & Public Affairs Programs got a very high 81% credibility rating in NCR based on a survey conducted by Pulse Asia in 2006.

GMA is also relentlessly pouring in efforts in the regions and is reportedly spending around P170 million, using internally-generated funds, for its expansion projects in the regions in its drive to gain supremacy in other parts of the country.

GMA’s signal, according to our source, has now vastly improved in major cities like Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Baguio, Dagupan, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Bacolod. GMA now focuses on its other regional expansion projects aimed at improving its signal and program distribution in other key areas. Cagayan de Oro (CDO), General Santos City, Batangas Province and Legazpi City will all be covered by new transmitter facilities while Naga City will be the site of a new originating station and transmitter.

GMA’s TV studio in Iloilo is now being constructed and is expected to be completed by June. Construction for the network’s studio complex in Davao and Dagupan are also expected to be completed in October.
