I'm a honda fan so I'd say civic, but I haven't really tried the others. So konti lang ang basis for comparison ko. I just have to say we've been very happy with our hondas, though we never buy pag less than a year released. The previous brand(s) we were unhappy with is not on your list though.0

At 1M, the 2.0L variants of all your choices will be over 1M by 100K or so. If you want, the best value for money would be the 1.8L Civic S variant... 2.0L range performance with good fuel economy.
The Civic has the best space; the Mazda 3 has the sporty look and exceptional driving feel while the Focus has the Euro solidity/feel. On resale, definitely the Civic will have the edge.
Test drive and go where your heart is...These are pretty good cars and you can definitely cough up added freebies and discounts from the dealer if they know you have several serious choices.
My .02.0 -
i have a focus 2.0 hatchback and it's really worth the money ( I got it when it was 980K) but frankly, you can't beat the value of the 1.8 Civic. And besides, the only focus worth getting is the 2.0 Sport (if you want the 2.0 Civic, you're better off with the 2.0 Sport Focus, mas maraming features and the said features can be found in BMWs and Volvos too.).0

btw, the new CRV 2.0 M/T is around 1.1M.0

newbie question;
when buying a car, do you have to wait for a few days/weeks for you to get it or you drive it home agad?
also, im leaning towards the 1.8s civic.
That depends. If you have selected the make, model and color and they have the unit at the dealership you are buying it from, and if you plan to pay for the car in full (either via managers check or in cash), then yes, you can drive away with your new car right then and there.0 -
CIVIC 1.8S - Just got one last November...barely has 1,000kms to date. hehehehe0

the low end mazda 3 is the best value for money. i love the riding comfort, style and overally experience. you should also consider after sales service. some vehicles will be more expensive to maintain than others. you should always test driver before buying.
it's usually delivered to your a specified address, within a week or 2. you should ask for it to be delivered by truck, instead of being driven.
when you get it, here're some minor things to check.
- finishings - make sure everything fits, closes and opens correctly. check for any scratches, dents and stains. drive it a little. listen for any banging, clanging or basically any ugly noises when you drive. check for any loose fittings, etc.
- check power items - check if power windows, wipers, etc work properly. check the wiper if it cleans the windshield well, it shouldn't streak or drag if it's a new wiper. roll down windows fully and then back up again.
- check lights, tires, and other small details that won't really ruin the car but will really annoy you when you find them after you've bought the car.0 -

If you're getting it through a loan then one your are okay with the paper work with your bank and you have done the required downpayment, insurance, etc... and of course if the unit is available then you can alrady bring your ride home. In most cases, if there is stock, you probably have to wait around a week to get delivery of your car.
Some tips:
- always compute the total money out at the end of the term; those low d/p or low monthly schemes of the dealers usually have higher interest rates that accumulate and in the end you end up paying more.
- the chattel mortgage fee can be negotiated; ask for quotations from both the bank and dealer, these guys really try to outdo each other.
- get your insurance from an independent source; the dealers charge an arm and an egg for these if you get it from them. Make sure also you get from a reputable company.
- freebies, freebies, freebies...0 -
lumang style na yang "para makasigurado ka, toyot or honda"
i remember a time in philippine history na uso pa yung owner type jeeps. men would laugh at cars because pambabae daw and so on and so forth...
same comparison with mazda vs a toyota or honda.
i think this is the best product of mazda so far when it comes to looks and ride. if you want speed, though (i doubt it if you can speed around metro manila) i have to admit that honda civic is quicker kung makikipagkarera ka. but nagddrive ako sa skyway at umaabot ako ng 140km/h. fuel efficiency, very much satisfied with mazda 3. like i said, this is the best product mazda has ever released so far.
makiZoom Zoom ka na rin. di na uso yung mga kotseng mukhang pang tatay, pang lolo or pang tito. hindi rin race track ang lubak lubak na kalsada ng metro manila. kaya ok na yung 1.6L ng mazda 3.
if you're interested, i can refer you to my friend sa Mazda Alabang. pm me lang. Zoom ZOom!!0 -

No... the old jeepney vs cars comparison is obviously stemmed from sourgraping of being unable to afford a vehicle.
but the honda/ toyta vs mazda comparisson... that is based purely on the fact that maintenance for toyota and honda is relatively cheaper with replacements easily available sa banaue for a FRACTION of the casa cost.,0 -
klonoa - personally, i didn't get the 2.0 because 15Hp lang naman dagdag...I think you won't be really feeling the difference that much...the features of the 1.8S is very similar to the 2.0S-L except for the leather seats, paddle shifter and the signal mirror (which I like)...
regarding hulugan: my recommended terms is 50% DP & 24 months only because stretching more than this will make you pay loads more on interest alone and pushing the price of your car aboveboard. Sadly when you sell it, you can't sell it higher just because you paid a lot through financing.
and a tip: NEVER get in-house financing & insurance! taga to the max yan kasi may patong pa yung dealer. GO to your bank and trusted insurance company. You'll be surpised with the rate diff!
Case in point: in-house financing 19% interest for 24mos.
my bank: 12%
in-house insurance: 39,000
my insurance: 24,000
San ka pa?0 -
pwede...again, wag bumili sa kasa...sa Banawe ka nalang.0

kung gusto mo ng tipid sa maintenance... mag owner-type jeep ka na lang.
mas mura yun sa kahit anong brand ng kotse.
mazda parts are all-over the place these days.. maintenance is cheap.0 -
"No... the old jeepney vs cars comparison is obviously stemmed from sourgraping of being unable to afford a vehicle"
same to honda/toyota vs mazda comparison. sourgraping of being unable to maintain a masterpiece of a vehicle... but then again.. mazda parts are easy to find these days.0
