hmm... kung kasya ang 1m sa mazda 6, mazda 6 na. i don't know how much it costs na now eh. i heard bumaba raw ang presyo than when it first came out. pwede ren civic na SL, the one with paddle shifters. alam ko nasa almost 1m lang yun. kung may budget ka naman pangdagdag, like around almost half a million, tapos mahilig ka pang mag out of town, rav 4 na! hehe0

if you are a smart guy, go with this option.0 -
I'd prolly get the '97 Land Rover Defender 110 that's for sale sa 4x4ph.com. Siguro naman hindi aabot ng Php200k ang repairs for that unit. The seller's asking price is Php800k.
Php1M can also get me an '01 Nissan Patrol. Cheap diesel, decent fuel economy (for a truck), tough parts (hard to break). Put on some dark window tints and no one will mess with you on the road.
Kung sedan, Volvo 850 sedans (also available in wagon body) are in the market for around Php350k. And with the advent of third party Volvo specialists (non-casa) like Gruppo Talyer's HABREC, the ownership experience is not as painful as one would imagine. Best part is, Volvos still look like a million bucks since they age so gracefully. Yung 850 wagon ang gamit ko today. Ang sarap sakyan. Wala pa kaming pinapalitang malaking piyesa sa underchassis and yet it still rides like new kahit '97 model. Wala din nakakaalam kung ano ang actual model year because there aren't much Volvos on the road. Just keep it clean and mukhang brand new parati. Kapag pumapasok ka ng mga villages, hindi ka na hinihingan ng lisensya, parati ka pang sa harap nakapark when you go to fancy restos. Unlike Hondas and Toyotas, hindi nakawin. Kahit side mirror walang pumipitik kasi wala naman pagbebentahan.0 -
civic, altis or mazda 30

Why would you bring an old Nissan Patrol to school? Mukha kang tatay. Takaw kidnap pa yung Volvo.
And since it's just a gift to you, better get the brand new models than second hand. Mas masarap yung pagka-deliver sa bahay, you can take it for a spin immediately.
Ako simple lang I'll buy a second hand Ford Lynx for 250K,tiis muna then I"ll invest the rest in Equtiy funds assuming 50% to 70% return per annum, assuming you have 2 million in 3 years.so pwede ka nang bumili ng Second Hand Mitsubishi Strada for Daily use and abuse, and second hand Nissan 350Z for Chick hunting......
I believe in delayed gratification......0 -
my picks:
brand new:
Honda Civic 1.8S - 870K
Suzuki Swift - 752K
Mazda Tribute or Ford Escape (I think they're having a promo disposing of old model)
Toyota Vios 1.5
Honda Jazz 1.5
Used:
1st gen Ford Expedition - P500K
1995 - 1997 Chevrolet Suburban - P700K
1996 BMW 316i - P400K
Mercedes-Benz 260E 124B - P300K
Volvo 850 - P300K
Volvo S70 - P400K
1997 Audi A4 - P500K
Nissan Patrol Safari - P700K
Toyota Camry 2.4V
1997 Toyota Camry 2.2GXE - P300K
Halata bang I'm after gas guzzlers?0 -

Why? Because I don't like mainstream, boring cars. That's why. Why would I drive a Japanese subcompact to school? Ang mahal ng presyo Php1M ata mahigit lulubog lang naman sa baha sa UST and sigurado after four years 'old model' na dahil darating na ang bagong Japanese subcompact. Also does nothing exceptional. It can't ford water, can't tow, can't haul. Puro can't. Daming limitations. Been driving an SUV for the past 5 years and kapag may ka-tropang tumirik, nasiraan, kailangan ng hatak, etc. they can just call on me.
As for mukhang tatay, nasa nagdadala na iyan. I have friends who are still in school that drive Alfa Romeo, BMW, Camry, Patrol, etc. and wala naman silang image problem. It's better to be mukhang tatay than wannabe-boy-racer. At least in my profession that is.
When I entered college in 1997, my dad gave me a Mercedes that was of 1977 vintage. Siyempre hindi ako natuwa. Pero ang point pala ng dad ko nun is so that I can learn to troubleshoot and work on cars. Apparently, it paid off din naman when I finally had a chance to drive something a little newer kasi sisiw na lang magtroubleshoot. As for the '77, andito pa din siya. Fully restored. Yung mga brand new 1997 cars ng mga classmates ko dati, either mga laspag na ngayon or nabenta na dahil 'bulok' na daw. When I park the old classic Benz at the hospital now [naging doctor naman ako eventually], standout pa din siya among the sea of Civics, Corollas, Jazzes, etc.
I'm still drooling over that Land Rover Defender 110, though. Make mine red with a raised intake and a 10,000lb winch up front
And who says working on cars isn't fun? My dad is a surgeon and he'd still prefer working on cars than on his patients. Of course the patients are the source of the funds needed for working on the cars so he still needs to do it.Yung latest car niya binili niya sa basurahan and restored it from the ground up at a cost still below the cost of buying a Kia Picanto. And that car would probably be still a head turner five years later whereas the Picanto would've probably just be another nondescript car in the background.
Siguro kung wala ka talagang balak na matuto tungkol sa sasakyan, mag-brand new ka na lang then replace every five years.0 -
Ako Honda Jazz [na kulay pink, hehe
]. Tipid sa gas at compact kaya madaling makasingit sa kalye.
At, Honda pa.

'Dating' is highly dependent on the end user. So that pretty much depends on you.
I know someone who drives a C-Class Benz yet everyone still calls him 'manong' dahil mukhang manong ng laboratory ang dating niya. hehehe.
Which Mazda 3 model are you considering. AFAIK, the 1.6 Mazdas are a tad slower than the Swift. Some Mazda 3's also don't come with ABS which is standard on all Swifts. The Mazdas are pretty safe too considering they share the basic platform with the small Volvos and the European Ford Focus. The Mazda 3's front end crush structure is also shared with the Land Rover Freelander AKA LR2.0
