Mapua Faculty, Students won Best Paper Award in International Research Competition

In keeping with its over eighty years of tradition in academic and research excellence, Mapua garnered an award during the Asian Symposium of Materials and Processing held at Sofitel Central Plaza in Bangkok, Thailand last November 9-10, 2006.
Mapua Part Time Professor Dr. Blessie Basilia and students Marian Elaine Panganiban and Achilles Allen Collado won the Best Paper Award for their research paper entitled Study on the Functionality of Nano-precipitated Calcium Carbonate as Filler in Thermoplastics. Dr. Basilia and her students are with Mapuas School of Earth and Materials Science and Engineering (EMSE).
Ms. Panganiban and Mr. Collado belong to the first batch to graduate from the Mapua BS Materials Science and Engineering Program. Ms Panganiban was the gold medalist of her batch.
This recent achievement is indicative of Mapuas commitment to engage in cutting edge research, especially in the area of nanotechnology, to better equip our students to face the challenges of a global, technology-based work environment. , said Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea, President of Mapua.
