Hi pips!

I badly needed your help guys...Im in a dilemma!:depressed:

I have two job offers as programmer trainee in the two companies I indicated above. First offer came by third week of January - SVI. I was already decided I'm willing to pursue an IT career with it until CPI called me up and made a better offer.

In SVI, training would surely be in JAVA, while in CPI either ORACLE or JAVA. What's the difference with programming with JAVA and ORACLE by the way?:depressed:

Right now, though Im concerned with the compensation package...also thinking about career path and growth...which one will I choose?...I have know idea...I don't know anything about these companies much...Does anyone here know about CPI and SVI?

I'll appreciate any inputs...please help...THANKS IN ADVANCE!:)

  • Go for the better offer. Yun.
  • They say it could either be Java or Oracle...so isang language lang...mas maraming benefits sa CPI at may OT pay rin unlike sa SVI wala...tapos ang increase every 6 months depending on performance...malayo talaga...:)

Alam mo ba kung pano Oracle programming? Exciting ba yun? C programming lang alam ko eh...non-IT field kasi ako...:)

    Uy salamat ha!*okay*

Oracle is known for their Database product.

You can interact with an Oracle database using Java, C, VB, C#, etc.

Oracle also has PL/SQL but I don't know much about it. http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/pl_sql/index.html

So chances are you'll be trained to develop applications in Java that connect to an Oracle Database.

SVI, I've heard, is a sinking ship with employees leaving left and right. Isn't CPI a staffing/recruitment company?

    CPI - better offer

Certified Oracle Partner daw. But I don't know what it means? Ano mas ok na training bosing, Java or Oracle?:)

SVI sinking ship? Hanggang ngayon po ba?

AbulugAdventure: May katapat si Ms. Charina dun...As I've said, maraming benefits!:D

Malapit sa Greenhills dude. Apply ka bigyan kita ng tips. PM mo lang ako.:)

I am giving much weight sa training. Before I was decided to pursue Java...But now sort of thing how about Oracle...Ano mas maganda?...kasi sa SVI siguradong Java na eh sa CPI "either" Java or Oracle...so baka hindi Java...Actually kaya ko naman pine-prefer Java rin kasi one reason di ko alam kung para saan ang Oracle in terms of business use...in demand ba siya...ano pagkakaiba ng Oracle Programming sa Oracle Database Administraion?

Can someone explain...please...sabi daw boring daw DBA...ayoko ma-bore...:depressed:

Weeeeeeee...kasingganda ni Charina? Oo nga pala, dami mo palang babae. :D

Pre, pengeng tips, ha? Lahat na maibibigay mo. Saka kung marami magaganda dun. :naughty:

Pano ka pala apply dun e-mail o walk-in?
  • where is CPI located? what's their email address?

    thanks for sharing. . . .
  • go to www.cpi.com.ph ...go to "Join Us" tab...then call them right away for schedule of exam...found about CPI somewhere here...just went to the site and called immediately...after 4 days, I had a job offer...ethical aggressiveness helps me a lot...:)
  • Choose CPI. I have friend there and he's from SVI. malayo pinagkaibahan ng dalawa according to him.

Oracle, u need big amount of money para lang maka take ng exam for certification, im not so sure but u need 80Kphp. kung sa oracle ka mapunta, im sure mas malaki sweldo mo compare sa Java marami na kasi marunong sa java ibig sabhin maraming kacompetensya.
  • ^ang galing mo naman namit mo yung cut-off ng SVI for trainees. . . ako hindi :(

mahirap din ba exam sa CPI???

    Wow, is DisconnectedMX!:)

Talaga, malayo? Pakilala mo naman ako sa friend mo...baka pwede ko siya tawagan para makapagtanong pa ako...medyo praning na kasi ako eh...I've been to three companies na at magaganda pa...kaso wala pa ring nangyayari sa growth ko kasi di ko mahanap gusto ko...how true...it's not the pay that fulfills you but what you do day in day out...Im willing maski na 60% lang sweldo ko dati maging sweldo ko ngayon as long as may patutunguhan na ako...ayoko na magpalit pa ng company...:mecry:

    Exciting ba Oracle?

Thanks for the insight...I consider it much!*okay*

    beingvane: PMed you.:)

  • ^i am just a small time business man now though BS Comp Sci natapos ko, and very commited to my business... pero kung maibabalik ko lang ang panahon kahit 50% pa ang kikitain ko sa kinikta ko ngaun payag ako maging Software Engineer, it's my passion to solve a problem.
imo, Oracle = Money + Growth + exciting.
  • 15K <= SVI/CPI salary < 20K
  • Wow sige DisconnectedMX, I'll put that in mind...:)

    Thanks!:)

    ...

Depende kung ano mas gusto mo gawin. I'm a Java person, so I can tell you that there's a lot to learn especially with lots of interesting Open Source projects going on (which you can also take part in). It's hard to be good at everything, most will specialize even further within Java. Certification info: http://www.sun.com/training/certification/java/index.xml

Oracle, di ko masyado alam. Naiisip ko lang magiging Database administrator ka, or developer with PL/SQL. But since hindi libre ang Oracle, there'll be less people with Oracle skills, kaya tataas siguro potential pay mo. This page might help: http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/

Of course, you could end up working with both. In many cases, the database would be Oracle's database product.

    Certified Oracle partner: http://www.oracle.com/partnerships/index.html
I suppose what this means for you is you'll have better access to oracle technology there. Tsaka maybe free/discounted certification?

  • once you get into the programmer trainee posistion and gain all the experience, what path can my career head to? consulting?
  • patlv23, Wow! Salamat sa insights...great help talaga...Parang mas okay ata CPI...hmmm...Salamat ulit sa insights! *okay*

cvgt2, dude, mukhang ok naman career path sa CPI kasi concern sila...they would care to orient us about it even before signing for the contract unlike sa SVI na parang di mo alam kung pano...saka parang mas may capacity CPI to keep their employees than SVI...although training ang concern ko, I also consider some options like staying longer in the company after the 2-year contract...hmmm...:)

Exam ka dude, tawagan mo ha, wag mag-send ng resume, dalhin mo resume pag andun ka na for examination...tawagan mo available numbers sa site nila...sige na nga bigay ko na...727-1619 or -1921...look for Ms. Louisa...*okay*

By the way salary will depend much on exam results...I got a very high score according to Ms. Louisa...not boasting, but encouraging to do your best as well if you want a better offer...:)
