Well, honestly speaking, the guy is a welcome sight everyday at the said noontime show with his enormous charm, winning smile and tremendous sex appeal.

I personally believe that it was most unfair of TAPE office to let go of a talent like that who’s got lots of following.

i hope it does work. EB needs a hand from its preprogramming. talo sila ng 0.2 monday. (www's 4th win in four weeks, three of those by within .1 to .4, so dont be alarmed. plus willie brought out his croc tears on monday). If you look at the ratings, Gknb got 21.3 but dropped to 19.6 with wowowee. Over the past month its obvious gknb (na hindi katapat ng EB) has been helping push wowowee a bit. It is not high because its good, its the same damn show everyday, edu doesnt make it any better (bulol pa), though hes less annoying than kris. pero if you look at saturday, talo ang Gknb ng Just Joking they didnt get to add to wowowees ratings and wowowee ended up losing by 9 points which shows that:

    1. GKNB is just doing good because the show against doesnt have any fire power. (lets hope this new one can even the playing field)
    2. www is just hanging in there because gknb is holding it by the fingers and giving it a little push on weekdays, not much, but you get the idea.

if they can neutralize gknb, i think wowowee could be done for.

LETS GO EB, weve got them on the edge, konti na lang! saya saya kanina btw!

`Eat Bulaga': 28 years and counting

WATCHING it is like a lunch time ritual, passed on from one generation to the next.

Pinoys have made it a part of their daily lives for 28 years now, making it Philippine TV’s longest-running noontime show - and longest-running local program.

It is a Pinoy way of life, a chunk of pop culture, an institution in showbiz; and it has moved from one station to another without losing its audience.

    What is Eat Bulaga’s secret?

“The loyalty and relationship of the Eat Bulaga family,” reveals Malou Fagar, executive vice president of Tony Tuviera’s Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE), producer of the top-rating program.

The bond among this noontime treat’s hosts and staff is indeed rare. They’ve survived a rocky start — from delayed salary payments to serious thoughts of axing the show back in 1980.

But tough times only made them love their program even more.

Twenty-eight years and some juicy counter-offers later, Tito, Vic, and Joey (TVJ), plus some key on/off-cam talents, remain fiercely loyal to Eat Bulaga.

Aside from being “married” to the program — working non-stop year-round, six days a week — the whole gang share problems, hang out and have lunch together, and yes, pray together, just like a real family.

Of course, an obvious forte of Pinoy’s favorite lunchtime companion is TVJ’s unmatched hosting talent, coupled by an admirable attitude.

Fagar says of the trio: “Fame never got to their heads. They are open to change and they welcome newcomers — singers, dancers, actor-wannabes, whoever you are, you have a place in the show.”

True enough, the program paved the way for discoveries like Aiza Seguerra, Sex Bomb girls, Jericho Rosales and many others.

Almost all showbiz bigwigs have also graced the show at least once, either as guests or co-hosts (Sharon Cuneta, Kris Aquino, Coney Reyes, Donita Rose, Lani Mercado and Mikee Cojuangco were among Eat Bulaga’s former hosts).

“But Eat Bulaga’s greatest achievement is its twin tasks of bringing cheers to and helping people,” says Fagar.

Aside from bringing isang libo’t isang tuwa, Tape’s noontime offering has touched countless lives by granting wishes (Send in your Dreams), tapping one’s potential (Mr. Pogi, Little Ms. Philippines, Palengke Queen, Macho Men, Maid in the Philippines and other talent searches), and helping fulfill dreams by giving away cash and special prizes like cars, a showcase, and trips abroad (Taktak Mo O Tatakbo?, Dabarkads On the Spot).

It gave away as much as P2 million in the past (Lottong Bahay).

Of the 18 lunchtime entries that tried to beat it, 16 are now defunct, most of which didn’t even last for half a decade. Eat Bulaga has been thriving in the people’s hearts for so long now it might as well be immortalized in Philippine history books.

    Iba talaga ang EB!

Family kasi sa eb as the article mentions. its very true. kung marami ang cast, it just means they have really grown in the past 28 years. pero if you think about it hindi naman kasi lahat main host. they have a lot of people but the ones that really host are just Joey, Vic, Anjo, Allan and Pia and Bitoy. The rest kung may specific segment or in between segments (cindy, paolo, pauleen, keemps) or kung may inointroduce, (tonirose, kiko and ruby) The others are just characters on the show, mostly pag bulagaan lang, comic relief. (Jimmy, ho has been with Eb since 1980, wally and jose).

speaking of, kakatawa the www fans brag about how they have 3 hosts, hosts probably right, but wowowee naman doesnt just have three people, they have other characters on the show rin, including the dancers, yung mga "alalay", recurrent characters like Jimmy Santol, Pooh, even lito camo, who semi-regularly performs. and tons of guest co-hosts. EB has more people, but wowowee doesnt have a few either.

plus, the days na wala si vic and joey, the show still can hold its ground. eh how long can wowowee last without willie (this being walang papalit na "guest" host), meaning sila-sila lang. parang basketball lang yan eh. EB has a deep team, kahit bench players nila magaling. championship team talaga. sa www, may "star" player nga, buwaya (crocodile tears! bagay) naman, sablay tuloy team nila. plus di pa ganun kagaling si willie, wala lang kasi sa team nila na magaling, kaya mukha siyang magaling. kay jose and wally palang, wala na yan eh.

i think hindi naman talaga tinanggal si paolo eh, once a week na lang nga. marami sa kanila binawasan ang exposure. right now, i think its the right move kasi its showing. they have to clean it a bit lang (the show), medyo messy kasi minsan talaga and as i said, EB is a family, hindi naman sila mangtatanggal lang. right now, its time for EBs main hosts to step up. im sure he'll be back on a more regular basis after they get rid of wowowee or have a comfortable lead.

Thanks, minsan kasi you have to use analogies para the people sa kabila could get it. minsan kasi ayaw nilang tanggapin na EB is something else talaga. Like right now, since humahabol yung kalaban, pinapalaro muna ni coach yung mga star players and they are trying to really step it up (kitams, si vic and joey, opening na opening pa lang nandiyan na), pagtambak na, pwede nang ilabas yung bench uli para makapagvacation at makapahinga naman yung mga veterans.

EB has been there for close to 30 years, has seen 5 phil. presidents, been in 3 channels, and really dominated. they have been down at times, pero they always strive to evolve, be better and win. EB is a dynasty.

I think its about time respect was really given to the show and to TVJ. To me they rank as one of the top entertainers of philippine history, as a group and individually as well. Kasi they changed philippine tv, movies and music. they were part of philippine culture and changed philippine culture. Hindi lang sila basta sikat at maraming fans, meron din silang nacontribute to every aspect of phil. entertainment. I think they are underrated by many when they dont know how much they have influenced the philippine people.

    Take Joey for example:
Music: he wrote almost ALL the VST songs, including "ipagpatawad mo", "rock baby rock", "awitin mo, isasayaw ko", he wrote songs for other artists such as cinderella's "boyfriend kong baduy", and anthony costello's "balatkayo", of course, has released multiplat. albums himself (jttw 1 and 2) with hits like "canton", "itaktak mo".

Movies: Box-office king, Wrote and Starred in Starzan I, II, and III. (which ALL aired within one year, daig pa Matrix, LoTR and Pirates -- of course, laki naman budget non, but still, it is still something to be proud of.), wrote romeo loves juliet (w/ keempee and aiko), batman en robin, elvis and james 1 and 2, long ranger and tonton 1 and 2, ***** en Chos, Smith en Wesson, Barbie 1-4, She-Man, all the tvj movies (kabayo kids!!), etc.

TV: ang dami na. EB pa lang, achievement na. now he has 6-7 shows pa. to add to over 40-50 that hes done.

at the same time, he helps others, actors and non-actors. the likes of rene requiestas, pekto nacua, gracia, etc. were all given a chance to shine.

Tito and Vic are different stories pa!! tito became a senator for two-terms, but he is a terrific composer, composed many hit songs and i think he even composed for a hollywood film, but im not sure lang. tVic is an awesome producer, produced and starred in several BLOCKBUSTER hits like lastikman, fantasticman, EK 1-4. Also coproduces many of EBs afternoon dramas and sitcoms. They were both of course apart of VST and Company, they have done several films, and tv shows including: EB, TODAS, ISKUL BUKOL, DISCORAMA, STUDENT CANTEEN, etc. (with jdl).

They tried it a few years ago as the longest show on tv, pero di tinanggap, kung episodes ang icocount, panalo sila, pero ang kinacount years. meet the press ata ng US ag pinakamatagal. haha we should make a petition, longest running variety show, para for sure panalo.
