Blind spot iyon both sa driver and the pedestrian.

  • True, true... when one is in an enclosed parking the headlights should be turned on. Your fuel consumption won't be affected naman by the headlights.
  • Just like driving at night or at dusk, the headlights should be turned on to make you more visible to everybody. Your lights are not just for you to see the road but also for your car's presense to be readily recognized when the surrounding lights are poor.
I don't know why but it seems like Filipino drivers are too hesitant about using their headlights at dusk while some even wait until its totally dark before they turn their lights on.
If they are thinking about conserving gas or prolonging battery life, it just doesn't make much sense to do it that way at the expense of safety.
  • Same goes for those annoying jeepneys. They won't even bother turning on their headlights at night.

One of my big frustrations. Early this morning (6 am) in heavy rain, there were still quite a few vehicles without headlights. Gray-colored ones at that.

I think it's a machismo thing. As in... "My eyes are very clear. I can still see unlike you wimps with the headlights on." Not realizing, of course, that the headlights are for others to see your vehicle and not the other way around.

AFAIK, they do this so that the commuters can see their destination karatulas.

ahh yes of course bro! the thing here is blind spot iyon both for the driver and the pedestrian. walang way para makita mo na may darating na sasakyan kung ikaw ang tumatawid:

besides, ano mas importante FC or safety?

I can perfectly understand this and I think this can be addressed by "building a better mousetrap" so to speak. What I don't really get even up to now are the tricycle drivers who drive around at night without headlights on. Ano kaya explanation nun?
  • there's a new batch of stupid drivers who don't bother to turn their headlights on and these are those reckless, inconsiderate, braindead food delivery motorboys.

Can we also include those boy racers who remove one headlight and replace it with some sort of ram-air device?

Since it's turning to pet peeves/idiots on the useage of lights then add:
    - those who use clear tailights with blue bulbs
    - those who use clear 3rd brake lamps with super bright white bulbs.

The problem also applies to when the weather is poor, not all drivers turn on their headlights for the added visibility.
  • siguro bumilis din naman ung takbo.

    ram air device eh. lol

Here's a suggestion. Talk to the parking admin or management of the building to require headlights to be turned on whenever a vehicle enters its parking premises. Required na kasi dito sa building where I work in ngayon e. After the sikyu boys check the bottom of the car and trunk for bombs e senyasan nila driver to turn on the headlights before letting the car in.

    Yun lang po.

Problema naman kasi sa kanila, naka-bright lagi to compensate for the loss of illumination.
  • dba mas lalung delikado yang naka bright light? ang alam ko me tamang gamit o purpose ung bright light dba?

mabilis na ang takbo, nakakabulag pa? lol
  • It's common sense to turn on your headlamps when entering an enclosed parking structure be it above ground or below. You don't have to look for a sign prompting you to turn them on.

Yes, the parking structures are illuminated but having your headlamps on makes it easier for others to see your vehicle and to distinguish whether a vehicle is parked or is occupied and can move at any moment.

Here is a good thread on road safety. Includes pertinent procedures and stuff you need to have in your car all the time: http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31435
They should issue a handbook or something regarding road safety. Yung pag bukas ng headlights pag umuulan or pag nasa parking is not for you to see better but for others to see you.
  • Even when entering tunnels dapat nakailaw ang sasakyan.

Tell that to a local driver and ang isisagot lang sa iyo: "Nakikita ko naman ang daan bakit pa ko mag-iilaw?"

    Sheesh.
