Nami-missed niyo ba yung anime explosion nung 1999 sa GMA-7?
Sabihin na nating anime explosion nung 1999 in general. Yung naglalaban yung mga networks para makuha yung mga manonood na manood sa kanila ng mga animes.
Nami-missed ko talaga yun. Lalo na yung pinalabas yung Card Captor Sakura sa 2. TALBOG YUNG KABILA!
ehehehe... GOOD TIMES. GOOD TIMES...

1) local dubs, except for a very very few titles, were so bad that it was painful to watch IMO.
2) ****.. nuff' said.
3) i'd rather like to read the mangas more than the animes thou... as most of the time, the mangas are better... most... not all the time.
it sucked
if everybody remember this:
dati nagpapalabas na rin ng anime ang channel 2 pero di nila alam na anime ang tawag dito... they call it tagalized cartoons...(di ko pa nakakalimutan yan!)
but when gma introduced the term anime... dun na sumikat ang anime.... not the term itself but the genre.... at yun ang nagpasikat ulit sa gma.... kaya malaki ang utang na loob ng gma sa anime dahil kung hindi dyan, di sila makakabangon ulit....
but in terms in this kind of cartoons, I admit, kahit di ako kapamilya, I can say that abs-cbn was the one who started this craze....
but,
gma develop the craze that's why sinasabi ng kung anime lang, mas maganda sa gma....
get's niyo ba ung gusto kong sabihin???
if you remember all of these, maybe....
Actually, Year 1999-2000 is the "anime boom" in the Philippines. And just to clarify: July 2001 is the when Cardcaptor Sakura aired on ABS-CBN and not in 1999. Animes on ABS-CBN during that time were, Saber Marionnette J, Fortune Quest, Lost Universe, Zenki(rerun), B'T X(rerun), Isami, and Rurouni Kenshin(Samurai X) to name a few. Animes on GMA during the time were, Voltes V, Daimos, Gundam Wing, Mojacko, Ghost Fighter, Flame of Recca, Lupin III to name a few. And ABS-CBN didn't make head-to-head competition against GMA in airing anime during primetime. ABS-CBN sticked with their soaps and dubbed telenovelas. They only aired anime on the morning and afternoon schedule.
And Sandrina is right, GMA only introduced the term "anime" and you could popularized it even if it's already known by anime fans.
Me? I started watching anime(it's not called like that then) when ABS-CBN was airing animes during 1993 starting with those literary-inspired animations like Trapp Family Singers, Princess Sarah, and Cedie. GMA only became another channel where I get to watch others animes.
afaicr, favorite ko na anime nun is Peter Pan no Boken na pinalabas sa abs-cbn. yeah panahon ko rin yang trapp (although i hardly remember anything bout this one), sarah, and cedie(napapaluha pa yung aunt ko pag nagflute si cedie hahah). dog of flanders. older remi anime (not nobody's girl)
anyway.. that was waay back in the late 70's/early 80's
korek! those are anime's din naman kaso hindi ginamit ng abs-cbn yung word na "anime" kundi tagalized cartoons...pinasikat ng gma yung word but abs-cbn made them popular kasi nga tagalized kaya mas naiintindihan ng mga bata. pero kung pioneer ang pag-uusapan, i think nauna ang ibc-13 at rpn-9 sa pagpapalabas ng mga anime. rpn-9 has long been airing dragon ball Z and ranma 1/2 bago and ibc-13 has aired daimos and voltes V bago pinalabas ng gma-7.
