alcohol and pregnancy

question:

i drank 1 (around 3/4) a vodka cruiser. how harmful is this to the baby? i've been told not to drink at all. but 1 is enough right?

  • there's no recommended cut-off for the amount of alcohol you can drink while pregnant. the best thing is to avoid alcohol entirely during pregnancy. alchohol is a known teratogen - it can cause facial abnormalities, growth/mental retardation and congenital heart defects.
  • to the thread starter- don't drink until you deliver your baby.

    i just read somewhere, in russia, right after delivery, women were asked to drink a glass of beer for better lactation.
