cost estimate for glxi 2000

Not sure if a fair comparisson since Hapon yung seller but my wife's Jap boss is selling his 2002 GLXi M/T w/ 30K kms for PHP130K. My sariling driver yun but who knows..... bilhin sana namin kaso we just bought ours last year.

glxi == Lancer, right?

a 2000 lancer should be worth about 300- 350k??

Is it a GLXi or GLX? This may matter as the "i" stands for fuel injection (1.6L engines) and the 2000 model Lancer 1600 had the MX designation if i remember it right? The GLX models had a 1.5L carburated engine.

Fair value would be around 240K to 300K, depending on overall condition and how much your friend will make pa-tawad.

slamm: i'm quite sure it's a glxi. it's pretty well-maintained. puro casa and never driven out of town. only downside is that it was rear-ended twice already. my friend had her bro-in-law do an estimate and he pegged it at P300K. she'll sell it for P250 na lang daw, cash. anything i should watch out for in a 6-year old car? i obviously know nothing about cars.

As long as they changed the oil and fluids regularly and they're the first owner then the car should be generally okay. At 250K thats a good price already.

Just do the ff (SOP when buying a 2nd hand car):
- change all the fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid, PS, and ATF - very important)
- tune-up (change spark plugs, check timing, and adjust valve clearances)
- change the air and fuel filter (this should be done every 20,000kms usually)
- general underchassis check-up
- change the HT wires with new, original ones (should be done after 5 years or so but is usually overlooked) and the rad cap if it had not been changed yet.
- before consumating the deal, start the car in the morning after an overnight park and observed for any idling problems... also when driving. This is common with any EFI engine as it ages.
