Gawin nyang parang Battle Royale. Lahat tayo bibigyan ng basic provisions at random weapons. Tapos patayan lahat within the span of a few years. Last man standing gets to heaven. Everybody else goes to Hell. If there is more than one person alive by the end of the time allotted then everybody goes to Hell. Or siguro at least mga last 1000 standing para naman di ganon kasagwa.

Oh well, I better start learning Krav Maga... And I believe my Zen Master can teach me how to throw toothpicks with deadly accuracy...

    Whee!!!

so the possibility of the Solar System accidentally having a close encounter with a blackhole while it hurtles along the Milky Way is unnatural?

I'm still thinking about how I'll end this world.

Don't worry, I'll tell you mortals about it.
  • its seems the bible's interpretation of end of time is the best of all.. isipin mo babalik ulit tayo at babangon sa lupa.. tiyak marami ang maghigh 5 niyan, kits kits tayong lahat!!

I think this is unlikely. I'm not sure scientists have even found one yet. And our sun is too small to implode into a black hole, it'll just go giant, eat up the first few planets and then shrink into a dwarf. Anticlimax, eh?

They'd ressurect Mozart, Jimi Hendrix, that other Metallica drummer (not Kirk), Freddie Mercury, and Louis Armstrong for one badass concert. Bob Hope will be the host/announcer.

There are many ways LIFE here on Earth as we know it end. Life can end, but not necessarily the Earth.

The most likely killer, would be a giant Asteroid, or Comet. Scientists have estimated that life on this planet has been almost erased at least 20 times in the Earth's past, mostly due to large, heavenly bodies crashing down on the Earth's surface.

An Alien invasion, perhaps melting of the polar icecaps, Tectonic shift, all these could cause life on Earth to RESTART, meaning goodbye to mankind. And in a few million years, hello to anything out there that will evolve to become sentient life capable of building . Like, hello "Squidkind", perhaps.

As for the how the WORLD, or Earth itself will end, I can think of 2 ways:

    a) When the sun finally runs out of "fuel", & dies, several billions of years from now, signalling the death of ALL life on Earth, & possibly the destruction of the world.

    b) If a Black Hole wanders thru our Solar System. Scientists estimate there are several MILLION Black Holes in our Galaxy alone, so it may not be as remote as it might seem.

hmmm...nuclear holocaust. then those who will be unaffected by the nuclear radiations will spend the rest of their lives in nuclear winter, the population will continue to dwindle down.

st.anger and i were talking about the exact same thing last night. People are so egoistic they equate the end of the world to the end of the human race.

i just saw a drama/docu sa DISCOVERY CHANNEL entitled END: DAY

they presented four scenarios for the end of the world:

    -Black Hole sucking up everything

    -Meteor hitting the earth

    -Tsunami

    -Virus Spread

    i dont have a choice
  • ^ virus can wipe us out it easily, it almost did with plauge and spanish virus that happened before, without science we are not here today.

If you think about it, we don't have natural predators anymore except ourselves and new kinds of microorganism appearing in this planet.

we mentioned in the other thread about combinations of different molecules is a gigantic in number, those combination of molecules with the right time, temperature, environment can become a micororganism that don't have their own predators yet. Plants and animals developed their own natural defence on bacteria, that's why we have evolved to create our own good bacteria against bad bacteria for our own survival.

Sometimes, antibiotic is not much of a help, when it both kills the good and bad bacteria, we even open ourselves to a new kind of virus.

Missed that da_n show. Hope to catch it over the weekend.

Viruses are, indeed, a devastating killer, but I'm not really sure that a naturally-occuring virus could end civilization as we know it. I mean, the "Spanish Flu" virus back in the early 1900s killed about 15 million people "only". The best that viruses could do, was about wipe out 1/3 of the population of medieval Europe w/ the Black Plague, which was, around, what, 25 million people?

I'm thinking, a civilization killer would have to kill more than that, at least around 80% of the world's population. With 6 billion people all over the world right now, that is a LOT of people to kill. A virus could mutate into a harmless strain once it reaches a couple of billion people, or maybe less. I'm not an expert on viruses, though, so I can't really say for sure. But based on what I know now, it just seems that way.

So, for a civilization killer, we would be down to a huge heavenly body (meteor, asteroid or comet, etc.), nuclear holocaust, or a Vogon construction fleet (or something similar, a hostile, highly advanced alien civilization).

    pinanood mo yung kasunod?!

    yung TEN WAYS?

    total parody! :glee:

included in the list: alien attack, cyborgs, genetically modified kids :glee: and the acting was really bad. it was meant to be campy and corny and it certainly was - mamaya TEN WAYS TO TALK TO GHOSTS.

End Day was very good. Perfect mix of good acting, BBC spiels, excerpts from old documentaries (i remember watching all of them) and other tidbits.

Here's how they did the end day scenario.

A scientific experiment that involves the use of a "particle accelerator" receives massive opposition because it might cause a blackhole. *a lot of scientists in the docu were finding this laughable

the entire western half of La Palma in the Canary Islands plunges into the sea following a volcanic eruption. A trillion tons of rock causes a 600m wave to head for the Eastern Seaboard of the US.

    Plague

And an asteroid hitting Berlin! malas. haha

they weren't exactly scenarios - they happenened in the same day. hehe
