Why there is no Nobel Prize for Mathematics?

  • Siguro dahil na paka broad ng "mathematics". Meron na kasing nobel price for physics, economics,,,, etc.... Na main foundation naman ay mathemathics.

Dehado naman ang mga mathematician. Iba ang nakikinabang sa mga bagay
    na sila naman ang gumawa.

Laplace should have been awarded with Nobel Prize... :rotflmao:

and my idol Gauss... though pinahirapan niya ako sa physics... :rotflmao:

Because a mathematician diddled Nobel's lady love (if i remember correctly, he was never married). Lakas kong mang-tsismis... :rotflmao:

And yes, this is just a myth...
  • Because mathematics encompasses all...physics, economics, etc.

maybe because since the renaissance nobody had really come up with a new form of doing math.

More likely because Nobel was an inventor, and identified more with practical sciences rather than theoretical ones. Pure mathematics being more theoretical, it didn't fit alongside the prizes Nobel offered, which were more concerned with real-world solutions.

Not that math guys are feeling left out. They have a prize of their own - the Fields Medal - which rewards innovative mathematicians.

If there is a Nobel Prize for mathematics... who would you pick to win
    and why?

    I beg to disagree.

Yep. Just a quick look at the history of mathematics shows just how much was done after the Renaissance.

The mathematics involved in the natural sciences pa lang show a huge amount of progress over the past 200 years.

    CORRECT !!! *okay*

Advancement in mathematics also lead to progress in electronics.
