Hello!
Im quiet new in this forum. Im on my 8th month already and my OB discussed to me about me having an dural during my labor. I have read some articles about that but I need some sort of real life experience from you guys on how does it really happen...the procedures...everything.
Hope to hear from you guys as this would really help me prepare for my big day!
Thanks

Hi there, basically you lie on your side and the anesthiologist inserts a thin tube through your back. It may sound painful but believe me you won't even feel it through the labor pains
One drawback of the epidural is that you won't be free to walk around so much since you'll have to be hooked up to a device to monitor your baby's condition.
Good luck!0 -
i was really, really, really scared about the epidural but i discovered it was nothing to be worried about.
you just have to lie on your side in a fetal position, the anesthesiologist will tell you to curl as much as you can and you have to stay very still. You might feel the initial *****, but since he'll put topical anesthesia first before he inserts the needle, you barely feel anything. then after a few seconds, it's done. when he injects the anesthesia, it feels like cold water going down your back.0 -
hi! gave birth to my baby girl last june through epidural. masakit tlga yung pagkabit ng tube, kasabay pa ng labor pains...i decided kase in the middle na ng labor ko...di ko na kaya yung pain. but after mailagay, sarap na ng feeling...i slept through the rest of the labor...then nagising nung ililipat na ako sa delivery room. so far ang naging set back lang naman eh yung pag sleep ng baby ko during labor caused by the anesthesia..that's why inabot ako ng 7 hours bago lumabas baby ko, pero no problem naman my baby is so healthy and active0

thanks for all the posts. I really appreciate it. super scared kasi ako but i after hearing this and talking to my OB, i feel excited. my due date will be end of may or early june. hope evrything will be alright!
i would appreciate some more stuff regarding epidural.... thanks a lot!0 -
sexylady... mababa ba pain tolerance mo? epidural ako for both my babies (now 2.8 and 1.3) although na-CS ako sa kanila pero laking ginhawa ng epidural. sobrang takot ako sa needles as in... pero once you start feeling the labor pain... mapapasigaw ka na ng epidural
)
scary talaga sya pero pag andon ka naman na sa situation na nakafetal position ka na e wala ka naman na magagawa e... and the pain is not too much... parang kagat lang ng bubuyog (na kasing laki ni jollibee)... hehehe... pinapatawa lang kita para di ka kabahan... seriously... manageable ang pain... mapapa-"AHW!" ka talaga sa tusok pero kakayanin mo... trust me... am one of those people na kulang na lang mahimatay pag may karayom... after mailagay sa yo yung tube, you will definitely feel so relieved na... sa case ko nga na CS... i didn't feel the pain din after kasi parang nirerefill nila yung tube mo every so hours para walang pain... kaya sis epidural ka na!
goodluck! God Bless! kaya mo yan)

ako naman, i just felt uncomfortable coz the anesthesiologist will really push you 2 be in a fetal position,eh di ba ang hirap nun kc ang laki ng bump sa likod...i got mild scolio, kya natakot ako na baka mahirapan cla...sbi ndi naman dw...2 times nya ako tinusok coz ndi ata tumama d 1st tym, buti na lan the second time, ok na...wala naman ako naramdaman nung tinusok sa likod...i was really sleepy after they put the epidural, and i didn't have any labor/no contractions, kaya they induced me, and they just wake me up whenever i need to push (they counted from 1-10 na sobrang haba) tas i go back to sleep again, tas gisingin uli if me contractions na...hehe
downside is, after delivery, it's kinda painful sa part na tinusok ung needle...lalo na if i'm tired or malamig...0 -
tantra is correct , same thing happen to me, i also have mild solio, lower back pa kaya mejo nahirapan ung anesthesiologist ko na ikabit yung maliit na tube na yun, pero after that as in painless talaga. I still experience the pain up to now ( I gave birth July 2004 pa ) pero sabi ng doctor ko sa medical city ( where I also gave birth ) yun ay effect na ng scolio ko at sobrang stress.
If you wanna make sure na walang after effect, consult your OB and if you have scoliosis dont forget to consult your doctor first and tell him that you are considering epidural process as an option in giving birth. Hope this helps.....0 -
sa akin twice inattempt yung epidural. kaso ayaw talaga kaya hindi na pinilit. i went through labor up to 9cm. hindi naman masakit yung process. para ka lang kinagat ng langgam. masakit pa yata yung kagat ng langgam.0

Thank you guys so much!!! Now, im super excited na....just had my check up kanina and anytime from now, I can give birth na.... waiting for signs ng labor and im ready to go... with gods help, sana it'll be a good experience0

In the delivery room, I remember pushing 3x but the baby didn't come out maybe I was so tired of the labor pain, next thing I knew was an injection in my spine and then I fell asleep. I gave birth normal, but I don't know how my baby came out. when I asked my Ob, she jokingly said, she did the pushing for me. Am so glad, hindi ako na CS. When I woke up half of my body was numb but there was no pain at all.0

before i was discharged from the hosp a couple of days after i gave birth the nurse asked me kung natanggal na daw ba yung epidural tube sa likod ko. i was surprised and scared, i ddnt know what she meant kaya kinapa ko bigla yun likod ko kung may nka stuck pa, wala nman. lokong nurse yun.0 -
me and my hubby attended a birthing class, i was determined to have a successful "lamaze" birth (my husband was with me at the lamaze room from labor til birth to give support). sad thing about is my waterbag broke at 37 weeks. we were admiited on the lamaze rooom and my cervix won't dilate...i was like 2cm for 24 hrs. i was a sure candidate for CS but then i told my ob i didnt want to undergo CS, so we patiently waited...i was induced 3times but very slow response ng cervix ko. finally i was 5cm when i couldn't bear it anymore i asked for EPIDURAL na. i was so tired from lying down the whole time. i wasnt allowed to walk around coz my water bag broke early i might get infected. to cut it short, i was in LABOR FOR 35HRS
. it was a baby girl, my Beatriz Anne (nic: "Bea").
thank God she's healthy, no infection, no pupu despite the long labor i had to endure.
i hope & pray that you would have a beautiful birth experience...not as traumatic as mine0 -
so if you have a high tolerance for pain, maybe you can do w/o it.0 -
The epidural.... When we were planning for the big day I told my OB that I wanted to have an epidural sabi nya di daw nya i recommend.. try ko muna mag normal pag di na talaga kaya go kami sa epidural... And guess what when I reached 8cm I screamed for an epidural. Dahil sa sakit wala kang ma feel (kasi you are in active labor)... Basta parang may rush of water at may tinusok sila sa spine mo...
And the great thing is wala ka talagang ma feel na pain and down side lang di ka maka ere. I have my OB and the anesthesiologist coach me when it is time to ere. Kasi first time di talaga ako marunong... the medical team even joked na tatanggalin daw nila ang epidural kasi di ako umi-ere... Dahil sa sobrang takot I tried my very best mag-ere at sucessful naman0
