Hello mommies!
Who among you here have a child with G6PD?
My 1-year old son have these, and he is very sensitive with what he eats.
He easily gets rashes lalo na kapag mga legumes and soya ang nakakain nya.
He is taking NAN Ha 1 and 2 since birth. Now I am having a hard time looking for his milk since he'll be 1 year old this end of April.
Need your precious inputs.
Thanks in advance.

hi.
my 2-year old son has steven johnson syndrome. It's also a rare diseased - severe allergic reaction from foods, drugs and chemicals. he is into hypoallergenic diet since agust 2005
will check my pedia if my son case is different from your baby's condition (ask mo din pedia you).
Nan HA and Pediasure vanilla lang ang pwede sa anak ko, now that he is already 2, pediasure na ang milk nya.0 -

hi 23and14,
actually, we confirmed the G6PD thru the newborn screening.
thanks for your inputs.
mga mommies,
want to ask for some suggestions sana ng milk without soya.
Ano pa kaya maisa-suggest nyo na milk for 1 year old onwards.. without soya..
thank you.0 -
Na encounter ko kase sa first baby at 5months i first start feeding her ng mashed potatos, (small amount lang) after an hour uncomfortable na sya and I noticed nagpantal face nya ( rashes) and then nawala din after an hour. may effect yun sa mashed potatos na pinakain ko?0

hi mga mommies. buhayin natin tong thread na to. sensya na i just need help din. my baby is positive with g6pd din. he's turning 7 months old. nung pinanganak siya after the newborn screening sa hospital when we got the result, ang sabi sa amin ipaconfirm sa isang hospital sa ermita(i forgot the name of teh hospital). my baby's pedia said (in contrary) na ok lang naman daw yung g6pd. basta wag lang daw pakakainin ng mga food na may soya or legumes. so my husband--afraid na iluwas pa yung baby namin at gawan na naman ng sandamakmak na test--opted to take the pedia's advice and did not bring our baby to Manila for the confirmation test. now, he's got rashes sa mukha which appears every now and then. at first i thought it's because mahilig na siyang mag-embrace ng mga toys or yung blankie niya and pillows baka madumi na. so i washed everything na. still meron pa din. i switched to another pedia and the doctor told me it could be because of the weather.pag masyadong mainit, maiirita ang face ni baby lalabas yung mga rashes. ganun din daw pag malamig. nagddry yung face naiirita si baby and kakamutin niya ng kakamutin.after reading this thread, i've learned that mas prone yung mga babies na g6pd+ sa mga allergies.
to those moms na merong mga babies na positive sa g6pd, can anyone share your experiences. i want to learn more. thanks0 -
my second son is g6pd deficient. sabi ng pedia namin dyan sa pinas, almost 30% daw ng pinoy eh g6pd deficient or carrier. wala naman dapat ipag alala, just dont give him anything na nasa list ng mga bawal sa kanya. actually, pwedeng ipa test mo ulit sya pag malaki na sya old enuff to travel, for now avoid lang yung mga bawal na pagkain or gamot. yung confirmatory test eh don sa may pgh yung outpatient department yata nila sobrang haba raw ng pila don. i didnt have my son undergo the confirmatory test, when my 3rd son was born, he also has g6pd. now parang confirmed na na yung 2nd son ko eh deficient nga sya. ganon yun eh, if you have 3 sons, 2 of them is g6pd deficient. yung first son ko eh hindi.
yung masyadong pinakabawal na bean eh yung broad beans or yung fava beans, sobrang may effect daw yun.i dont think we have it there in the philippines.0 -

hi there...
Baby ko since the first time she eats solid foods including potato wala namang naging problema sa kanya.
until now regular ** kumakain ng potato.
If so, nag allergy ba siya???
^^^di ba siya sakitin or slow learner? Ilan taon na baby mo? thank you for the reply.
hi this is selj.
Baby ko hindi sakitin....
Shes turning 1 year this 29 this month...
But you know what? i was worried about that G6PD...
But still i am worried about it....0 -

just want to add mga mommies, if nadetect na G6PD deficient on newborn screening baby nyo it is important na ipaconfirmatory test sya sa NIH UP Manila, dun yun sa UP Manila Campus, just to confirm if deficient nga sya or hindi, kasi some babies after their confirmatory test normal naman ang result, so there's nothing to worry na. maybe during the screening test nya di pa masyadong nakakapag produce ng enough G6PD si baby kaya deficient pa sya nung time ng screening, it take some time para makuha result ng screening and bago nyo pa sya mapaconfirmatory test, maybe that time nakapag produce ng normal level of G6PD body ni baby kaya normal na nya.
pero its case to case basis, if deficient talaga si baby makikita yun yun sa confirmatory test and that's the time to seek medical advice for your baby, the truth is wala talaga itong gamot puro prevention lang and aside from rashes due to reaction sa mga bawal sa kanya, pwede din syang manilaw, and magkaron ng hemolytic anemia when expose to chem, drugs and foods na bawal sa kanya.
always remind the doctor kahit san kayo magpapacheck up na G6PD deficient sya and always specify if napaconfirmatory test sya or screening lang.
sa screening test pala ***** lang sa sakong/heel ang ginagawa then iboblot sa filter paper provided by the hospital, pag confirmatory test na they have to get at least 3ml of blood, dun na mismo sa ugat ni baby kukuha, kadalasan yung sa braso, or kahit sa paa, mahirap kumuha ng blood sa mga baby kaya minsan nakakailang tusok ang doctor sa baby lalo na pag maliit masyado ang ugat pero there's nothing to worry naman mabilis naman mag heal yung tusok ng karayom0 -
